@hchavers it looks like there’s a lip, but if you are trying to keep a roast beef and cheddar from Arby’s on it’ll probably slip right off no matter how big it is
@hchavers You need to glue 1/2 of the penny you saved by not paying $30 for two to the front of the base with the round half pointing up to prevent the phone from sliding off the charger!! Good Luck!!
@hchavers@rkibbe@werehatrack I used the Gorilla equivalent of Flex Tape to repair a seriously leaking rain gutter (there was a ~2-foot-long crack in the seam) when I couldn’t get anyone to come out and replace the gutter. The tape did the job for 2 years, until a heavier-than-usual snowfall last spring did the gutter in for good. (Fortunately, I finally found someone to replace the gutters.)
@phendrick Errr, not quite. These seem to have multiple coils, which makes it way easier to get the thing to charge without having to fiddle around. On the cheapo ones you have to position the device more carefully in order to get it to charge - a no go when you’re half asleep, slamming your phone on the charger to find it with 5% battery in the morning.
@werehatrackThose would be any similar stand that comes without a charger (most of them). “Powered” in this case seems to mean that the stand comes with an (external) charger, and the cable seems to be hardwired on the stand’s side and and old school barrel type (not USB) on the charger’s side.
Might be good if the power supply is solid (it seems to be), but it will be less portable - plus you’re stuck when the power brick dies.
@goblin@werehatrack Yes it means it comes with the plug part that uses a special plug direct to the wireless charger. It can provide more power optimized for the circuitry in the charger base. This is generally better than ones that just expect you to use any ol’ USB port which can give varying results and generally poorer charge rates. But yes it probably means this is better for leaving at one place rather than being “portable.” Well, two places, since you get 2. And I don’t think “power brick dies” should be a concern, especially not with a logitech product which tend to be pretty solid.
“Not compatible with cases with metal parts, magnets, handgrips, kickstands, and credit cards”. In other words, it won’t work with an iPhone 12 or newer in a MagSafe case. Too bad, looks like a nice product otherwise
@xerdkwa this is true. My items arrived today and I found out they are useless. Can’t charge my phone because the camera lip doesn’t allow the space for the phone back to sit flush against the charger
I wonder if they’ll actually SHIP these ones? Unlike the last time they had something similar, where they took your money, held it for three weeks, and then cancelled the order, and just said “sorry, too bad, so sad”. The new meh is really something.
I’m a little technology challenged, so the wording about Samsung confuses me. Will these work with a Samsung Android? (Please…this is a real question & could use a serious answer & not a silly dumb remark/non answer.) Thanks in advance.
@musicanimator As long as they are not equipped with a pop socket, card wallet, finger ring or stud, or a case over 3mm thick, iPhones with the MagSafe feature should charge on it if properly positioned, but these stands don’t use Apple’s proprietary MagSafe positioning system.

Watt did you say? OMG! That’s so shocking.
@yakkoTDI People are shocked when they find out I’m not a licensed electrician.
What is stopping the phone from sliding off the charger?
@hchavers A little tiny piece of chewing gum. Be sure to check around the outside of the shipping box.
@hchavers it looks like there’s a lip, but if you are trying to keep a roast beef and cheddar from Arby’s on it’ll probably slip right off no matter how big it is
@hchavers @mexicantacos But then at least the metal will get some protective grease.
@hchavers @mexicantacos @phendrick Arby’s fries their roast beef in canola. I don’t want that crap getting on my wireless charging stand.
@hchavers Duct tape to the rescue
@hchavers @rkibbe And if duct tape isn’t enough, use FlexTape!

These put out nominally more than 9.99 watts each and cost nominally less than $15 each?
That’s entirely copasetic, Meh.

So there’s an UNPowered kind of wireless charging stand? Gosh, I want one of those instead!

@beachhead maybe the new new meh will only keep it for two weeks before cancelling

@jeaninebramante Yup, these will work with Samsung Android phones. Non-exhaustive compatibility list here and will work with the latest qi-enabled devices
@troy thanks!
So does that mean an iPhone 13 won’t work on these? Mine has a MagSafe Ghostek case!

FedEx Sux
If you have a larger phone, this won’t work without turning the phone upside down. Disappointing!!
