I had one of these (different brand) and really liked it for in my truck. It got lost last time we moved, though. I’ll give this kind a try.

@mediocrebot@scorpyo72@walarney Gee thanks, now I have to become more “literate,” (if there is still such a goal) just to understand the context of a random giphy page.
EDIT I like “I would have bitten his ankle, but I knew he hadn’t changed his socks for a week”
Received mine a while ago. They’re actually pretty nice. Very heavy. Pixel 5 has lots of room to spare, but isn’t picky about placement. Just toss it in. Also works with S22 Ultra with a kickstand case. Has charging indicator light that is not super bright.
So is there any chance the “JVC” mentioned here has ANYTHING to do with what used to be the maker of quality equipment especially tape machines? I’m a bit skeptical. Last year I bought something (here) that was called a Samsung wireless charger, and I thought, well, Samsung seems to ship quality products, so if they are behind this product, that’s OK! But what I got was clearly a no-name product with some instructions saying how it could be used with your Samsung phone, which is not at all the same as being a Samsung product.
@pmarin The identical item is present in the JVC store on AMZ. JVC and Kenwood in Japan are under common ownership now, and Panasonic cut its ties with JVC back in 2012-2013. JVC had been losing money. I don’t know what their current financials look like, but the disappearance of an entire class of home audio components from broad popularity has hurt all of the electronics outfits that were in the market. Diversification into electronics that has no connection to their old core business is not surprising.
@werehatrack Yeah, sad about that because of fond memories of AV equipment from the 70s/80s where the names meant something; I knew all was lost when I saw some “Nakamichi brand” $9 earbuds for sale on some site a few years ago.
And also reminded me of that quote-“Samsung” wireless charger sold on this very site last year, which turned out to have nothing to do with Samsung except that the company (probably illegally) repeated the Samsung name many times in saying that it was a charger and Samsung phones use wireless charger, so by extension it was a Samsung device.
@chienfou The exterior dimensions are for the box it comes in. That’s the bullshit useless information that AMZ almost always lists instead of the measurements for the actual items themselves. The inside dimensions are per JVC’s customer service minion, who answered that question on AMZ.
@werehatrack
So does that mean the “inside dimensions” are the outside dimensions of the actual product or the inside (usable space) dimension of the recessed part of the tray??
Got mine and I’m very happy with them. They charge my Pixel 6 even through a case and a Love Handle (elastic finger strap with plastic adhesive base), and work pretty much no matter where on the rectangle I put the phone. They’re stable and non-skid, not gonna tip over or fall off my nightstand, and the blue glowing light helps me know where to put the phone, and lets me know when it’s charging by pulsating. Almost wish I’d gotten more of them.

And back to the $0.99
@tinamarie1974 should be .98 since there are two.
@mehvid1 @tinamarie1974 I think it should be .00 but that’s just my two cents
@sleuth @tinamarie1974 I see what you did there, and I agree.

@fuzzmanmatt WTF is going on in this giphy? (the Asians falling head first into mud)
@fuzzmanmatt @Trinityscrew Really. Seems like a very bad idea.

Seems like a good idea, but I don’t need any wireless chargers right now, and I prefer the ones that double as a stand.
I wish i had somewhere to put one in my car.
I wonder if these are powerful enough to work thru a case with a Meh pop socket stuck to it? The Amazon page doesn’t say one way or 'tuther.
@Snarf None of them are.
Almost, but not quite big enough. (TWSS). S22 ultra with a good case is 7.25 long.
@RunWithScissors just the thing to keep me from considering a purchase. Thank you for your service.

At first I thought it was griddles
@Larry1977 could be. Do you park your car in the Texas summer sun?
@hchavers I spent a month of job training in August in Irving. Over 100° every day

WTaF does this even mean? That represents a ‘loss’ of over 3 inches from ext to int dimensions… Is that image REALLY distorted or what???

Got four of these as they looked perfect to just throw a phone on and forget about it. Unfortunately, they are very picky and work half the time.
