@ybmuG They are a great brand. I have several of their items, including a collapsible wooden clothes drying rack that’s well over 10 years old, a rolling TV stand, closet organizers, etc. I found this brand featured at a fancy-schmancy boutique, of all places. It’s a cute name, not gender specific, and hey, knowing what pet names can be, it easily could have been called Sugarlips-can-do.
What in hell would possess someone to use this for cereal or pet food? Barely 2 cups of storage each… Yeah keeps food fresh 45 days but…so what? Unless your pet is a goldfish 2 cups won’t last them long.
@chienfou Thanks for making me look it up. 17 oz is the size of a normal box of cereal (give or take) so it might be saying it’d hold a whole box - not just 2 cups of it.
@kalma
That’s a weird way to list your specs (by “weight” of container space). Typically you would expect it listed as volume, since that is not variable. 17.5 oz of Rice Krispies take up a lot more space than 17 oz of Muesli, so 'Holds up to 17.5 oz of dry cereal could indicate a huge range of size., And the listed dimensions don’t help much since you can’t really tell the spacing under the ‘spigot’ to get a rough estimate.
Once again, I find myself missing the days when “metrification” of the US was a thing and this sort of confusion would be avoided.
@chienfou@kalma I’m pretty sure the ounces label on a box of cereal is weight, not volume. It sounds like an average box of cheerios is around 11 cups (volume) So I’m thinking the same thing; you’re not going to fit much of that box of cereal into one of these.
And how many people do you imagine have a crying need for two of these? I might consider one for $12, but no way will I spring for two. Meh, could you put a grownup in charge?
@haydesigner In the past, I’ve used similar things to feed my cat when I’ve been away. This thing seems nicer & my kitty always deserves the best of everything. Except when you have to buy two.
@gertiestn Glad your world is the only one in existence. I actually need 3 of these as I have 3 little dogs that these would be excellent food dispensers for. If you want just one, I will buy 2 2-packs and sell you one for $12 plus shipping.
You can send things back? Can you send the worthless garbage they throw in the $5 grab boxes back? WTH am I going to do with 2 kids crock/bear shoes (or whatever they are) that look like they’ve been in the warehouse for 20 years, they are so dingy & dirty. Also in the box was MEH coins (wth?) and the other crap was so completely useless I’ve forgotten what it was. Never again. Not worth my time or $1.00 much less. You guys fight over them. You guys can have that crap.
@Kyeh I’d say @jen56 failed to read the fine print but really we put that info right up front with every IRK. Feel free to contact us about the IRK warranty and we’ll go over every line.
@jen56@shrewsbury
FWIW my grandkids loved their ‘Clawz’ and the coin is actually pretty cool if you know the backstory.
As previously mentioned, it’s really more about the thrill of the hunt, though some lucky metizens have gotten nice stuff. Mine have been well worth the effort and $5…
Is it easy to turn the handle? My cat is smart & I need to trick her into wanting to eat her dry food. If she thinks she’s winning the game this might work…
@mellowirishgent Would not trust it with nice nuggets. It would most likely crush it and smear the crystals all over the mechanism. What a waste. Maybe use it for shredded dirt, but who wants that?
Would these work for sugar in one, and Truvia sweetener in the other? Or would these granules be to small to work well? Is it more designed for bigger things like the size of cereal pieces?
@Imposter Not only their misspellings, but their inaccuracies in product descriptions, ambiguity in whether or not they are talking about, for example, 4 socks or 4 pairs of socks, leaving out key information like whether the socks are men’s or woman’s sized and just say one size fits most. Standard woman’s will fit most women’s feet but not most men’s feet… Since for the most part things are not returnable and much of the time it is left to us to google for answers I’d imagine there are folks who would have bought but don’t.
@Imposter@ravenblack So I googled… there is Tootie Fruities, Far Out Fruities, Fruit Spins, Freaky Fruits, Fruitti Rings, Fruit Whirls, Silly Circles… who knew so many different knock off brands… didn’t find fruit loops.
@Imposter@Kidsandliz I was joking about a knockoff brand being spelled correctly, but I’m happy to learn that there’s a cereal named Silly Circles, and sad to learn there is no Frout Loups.
I want to know why they advertise that it “preserves freshness and flavor” for up to 45 days, yet the picture on the box shows fresh strawberries in the cereal. How many people are going to use that setup for more than one sitting, much less for a week or more?
This is step one to autonomous kid breakfasts. Going to screw it into the inside of the pantry door so son #1 can get his cereal out himself in the mornings.
I have ZERO use for these and I want them desperately. I hope somebody posts suggestions for uses other than cereal or dog food and inspires me!
(I do use cereal AND dog food but feel certain both will get soggy faster rather than slower, stored inside a receptacle that you can’t squeeze air out like you can with a bag).
Question:s
A) what is the bowl clearance height? Some of the Amazon reviews said you need low profile bowls.
can they be wall mounted if you have no counter space?
Thanks!
Food, oh, dry food, for a moment, I was wondering what dry foot dispensers were, & why a pair of 'em, but then I figured, well, that makes sense, as most people have two feet…

@oluminuminum
FWIW, the comparable model on Amazon that looks just like this one is plastic.
@oluminuminum
Yes
“Honey-Can-Do” sounds kind of condescending.
"Oh look, with these dispensers, Honey can do breakfast without spilling the cereal all over the counter! Isn’t that precious! "
@ybmuG For the record. A honey do list is one that a husband does that has been sitting around for quite a while.
@ybmuG Condescending to whom?

$41 @WalMart https://www.walmart.com/ip/Honey-Can-Do-KCH-06145-Stainless-Steel-17-1-2-Oz-Capacity-Countertop-Food-Dispenser/25868494
@shifhappenz third party seller, no reviews, so that price could be wishful thinking.
@shifhappenz yeah but look at that sweet sweet free Walmart shipping. Eat your heart out Meh! You’ve been out-Mehed!

@braintuba @kalma
for reference, it looks to be about the size of a gallon milk jug or about 8 cups if there is 6 inches under the spigot.
@braintuba @chienfou @kalma A gallon is 16 cups tho…
@tightwad
Doh… you’re right (of course)
Almost makes one wish Meh offered candy corn again. The recent offers have often been weird.
@glarue I’m just disappointed they didn’t photoshop candy corn into this thing. Lazy!
@glarue @Telanis
Maybe because when you have a block of congealed candy corn it wouldn’t fit thru the dispenser?
And how many people do you imagine have a crying need for two of these? I might consider one for $12, but no way will I spring for two. Meh, could you put a grownup in charge?
Out of curiosity, @gertiestn, what are you considering using it for, exactly?
@haydesigner In the past, I’ve used similar things to feed my cat when I’ve been away. This thing seems nicer & my kitty always deserves the best of everything. Except when you have to buy two.
@gertiestn Your cat can work one of these? Does it have thumbs?
@gertiestn cat and dog?
Many people have both. In our case we have two dogs (we believe it’s best to have two or more of any animal If.you have one).
Our dogs are trained to only eat from their own bowl and not touch each other’s food.
Probably many people would only want one, but I can see many cases where two would be useful.
@gertiestn Glad your world is the only one in existence. I actually need 3 of these as I have 3 little dogs that these would be excellent food dispensers for. If you want just one, I will buy 2 2-packs and sell you one for $12 plus shipping.
@gertiestn @Telanis
@gertiestn @narfcake @Telanis Wow, that’s a brilliant and agile cat!
Spouse bought one of these once. All it did was crush the cereal. I sent it back.
Honey-can’t-don’t.
I showed this to my dog and she said meh…
You can send things back? Can you send the worthless garbage they throw in the $5 grab boxes back? @jen56 yeah! Screw you Bezos!
Wait. Wrong website.
@jen56 @shrewsbury
FWIW my grandkids loved their ‘Clawz’ and the coin is actually pretty cool if you know the backstory.
As previously mentioned, it’s really more about the thrill of the hunt, though some lucky metizens have gotten nice stuff. Mine have been well worth the effort and $5…
@jen56 and they forgot to include some used tissues too! what a ripoff!
Wow! The cheap hotel breakfast bar experience at home. For the pre-Covid road warrior in your life.
So these are Bluetooth?
Is it easy to turn the handle? My cat is smart & I need to trick her into wanting to eat her dry food. If she thinks she’s winning the game this might work…
@SweetNsourJess I think that only works with Pavlov’s Dog
These would be perfect for dispensing stale candy corn.
@OnionSoup Yeah but what they sold here was bricked…
Maybe it’s just the way these look on my phone, but at first glance I thought they were urinals. I guess they would be 2-Pack Honey-Can-Pee.
Would make a nice giant green nugg dispensor,yeah BudDy…
@mellowirishgent Would not trust it with nice nuggets. It would most likely crush it and smear the crystals all over the mechanism. What a waste. Maybe use it for shredded dirt, but who wants that?
Damn! I first thought that these were reloaders for my shotgun casings…Too bad, So sad.
Irk is now a cereal killer.
Would these work for sugar in one, and Truvia sweetener in the other? Or would these granules be to small to work well? Is it more designed for bigger things like the size of cereal pieces?
@Commonwealth109 |
No
Yes
Yes
Just look at them…
Oh my god! They’ve dispensed with Irk!
Unless you are running a bed and breakfast with serf serve cereal, these seem to be a solution in search of a product…
@ohhwell Your serfs have to operate these? Pass.
@radi0j0hn Nice catch… Maybe I will set up shop next to a Medieval Times…
@ohhwell I get it! I wanna buy these so bad but I have no idea what I’d use them for…
It’s “Froot Loops.” Feel free to run these by me (or any professional editor) before you publish them. The mistakes are becoming more frequent.
@Imposter Maybe they were talking about the knockoff brand!
@Imposter Not only their misspellings, but their inaccuracies in product descriptions, ambiguity in whether or not they are talking about, for example, 4 socks or 4 pairs of socks, leaving out key information like whether the socks are men’s or woman’s sized and just say one size fits most. Maybe dog food?
Beyond “meh”. I’d say more of a “bleah”.
I want to know why they advertise that it “preserves freshness and flavor” for up to 45 days, yet the picture on the box shows fresh strawberries in the cereal. How many people are going to use that setup for more than one sitting, much less for a week or more?
@CatFriend It’s probably this - the strawberries are freeze-dried.
@Kyeh What a reprehensible thing to do to those poor berries when their future held so much promise . . .
@CatFriend It does make them pretty weird; the texture is similar to the Lucky Charms marshmallows!
This is step one to autonomous kid breakfasts. Going to screw it into the inside of the pantry door so son #1 can get his cereal out himself in the mornings.

@brasscupcakes You could dispense mixed nuts and bolts from one, and randomly sized screws from the other.
Question:s
A) what is the bowl clearance height? Some of the Amazon reviews said you need low profile bowls.
can they be wall mounted if you have no counter space?
Thanks!
@brasscupcakes Bend the bracket at the bottom straight and you can both screw it to the wall and make as much room under as you want!
Food, oh, dry food, for a moment, I was wondering what dry foot dispensers were, & why a pair of 'em, but then I figured, well, that makes sense, as most people have two feet…
