@hchavers Because the cord from the nightstand is too short to allow cruising the pornrecipe uploads in bed while charging, and you don’t want to have to fiddle with plugging in the cord when you’re done and want to get some sleep?
@canneddirt This charging stand works flawlessly with the case on my Samsung Galaxy phone. This is the case I have where it says the dimensions are 6.4 x 3.17 x 0.44 inches:
I bought a similar pair of these made by Logitech a year or two back, and they wouldn’t charge Pro Max-sized phones, although they worked great with the standard models. Any idea how these are with the larger phones?
@st_ellis have you tried laying the phone sideways? My note 9 in an otterbox doesnt do well on these portrait-wise but does okay if laid landscape-wise
1 of 2 Qi mob phns in the household which we’d like to use with today’s Meh offer is the similarly sized PXL 6 Pro. It’s in an Otterbox too, the Defender Series. It’s the thicker overall type, where layer 1 is a fixed plastic, and then layer 2 around that is the slightly more elastic, shock absorbing, easier-to-grip molded plastic. It’s the type of case where it’d be a hassle to have to remove in order to Qi-inductive-charge.
For the Galaxy Note 9 mentioned, is its Otterbox, the one allowing landscape charging, similarly thick to the Defender Series, or one of the thinner Otterbox models?
Can’t find a review by a third party ie Macworld or someone that’s not selling them online anywhere. Compatible versus certified Qi, No mention of that.
@craigcush@heartny Ergo, “trust us, we say it works even though we haven’t paid for that to be formally tested and certified by somebody whose reputation depends on accuracy.”
So, probably it works most of the time.
I’ve had mixed results with my Pixel 7 Pro on easel-style inductive chargers, but none of them were outright failures so far. (I haven’t tried the ones for sale here.)
I bought these (for more $$!) on SideDeal and liked them so much I bought them on SideDeal again. Alas, they were only offered in black both times. Tempted by the pretty colors as they work great for me. (iPhone X in Spigen case)
@Chakolate
according to Tom’s Guide you can use qi chargers if they support EPP (but not sure if this one does…)
So bottom line… it’s a $10 crap shoot (or you just bought early Christmas presents…)
I’ve also bought these before. Really liked the ones I got and had no problem with using them with a (2 piece, fairly thick) case on my Samsung Galaxy 10. That being said, one of the ones I got was DOA so be sure you check these when you get them. I leave them scattered about the house and have one at work in the ER as well. Was initially bummed about the micro connector, but then realized once you have this plugged in you won’t have to fiddle with that thing again, so other than wanting to use a C to C connector it’s all good.
In for a couple more for folks that have asked me about them at work.
I got a pair of these last time. They are, true to name, meh. The charging is slower than the other charger I use on my nightstand, but they hold a phone and slowly charge it. (Pixel 7, with a fairly thick case, btw).
If you have a thinner case or don’t use a case, these might be good. I use this model on my desk, so when I get home from work and the battery is at 20%, it won’t go to battery saver land and will make it through the rest of the day. For the price, recommended for that sort of use case (if you use a case.)
I got these last time they were offered. They charge reasonably quick for cheap wireless chargers but I have one big problem. When the phone hits 100% they stop charging. You can tell because the light on the front switches from blue to green.
It won’t start charging again until you manually take the phone off and put it back on. So if you put a phone you don’t use a lot on this the battery might be dead next time you pick it up off of the charger. I don’t have this issue with other wireless chargers, just these Griffin ones.
Just as a reminder. Bought some fancy Logitech ones here once and the thing basically lit my night stand on fire. No phone on it. Got so hot on the bottom ( not where the phone goes) charred and smoked the table.
one of these two chargers does not work at all, the cord to power it would not fit the slot(it was bent up inside) the other one only works on occasion, and then only when it is plugged in to power . would give these a -10. refund possible?
@janitasmeh Send an email to https://meh.com/support. It might take a day or two for them to reply but you’re in the 90-day warranty period so they’ll be able to help you out.
@janitasmeh
I second the ‘contact support’ idea. I had trouble with mine when I bought them last time and they made it good. This time they seem to be fine. Gave one to a co-worker who has a phone with a bad charger port.
the other one only works on occasion, and then only when it is plugged in to power
Not sure what that means, but they ONLY work when they are plugged up to power. That’s the way they are designed.
Both of mine seem to be working just fine…I didn’t pay attention to the cords that came out and dug around for my own Micro-USB before I realized they came with some
Other than that fine, I just wish I had gotten the purple I actually ordered instead of black.
Apparently these don’t work with a magnet on the back. Guess I was supposed to know that?!? I do not remember reading it anywhere and everyone I know has a magnet on the back for a car windowsill mount

If it is wireless why do I have to plug it in?!
Purple!!!
Why would I use a 15watt charger and only get 10watts of charge when I can get all 15watts going straight to the phone?
@hchavers so you don’t wear out the charge port or spend time plugging it in?
@hchavers Because the cord from the nightstand is too short to allow cruising the
pornrecipe uploads in bed while charging, and you don’t want to have to fiddle with plugging in the cord when you’re done and want to get some sleep?Picked up a pair of these last time they were offered and they work flawlessly on both my work iPhone and personal android phone.
@canneddirt,
May I ask, how thin/thick (measurement) are the cases for the phones you mentioned?
(Or… did you bother removing the cases before using these stands?)
@canneddirt This charging stand works flawlessly with the case on my Samsung Galaxy phone. This is the case I have where it says the dimensions are 6.4 x 3.17 x 0.44 inches:

@bartsimpson I tend to favor slimmer TPU cases, so both the iphone and android cases are no more than 2-3mm thick at the back.
My life is pretty meh. Why would this give it a “compliment”?
@phendrick “there” trying to mess with you because they knew that mis-using words would “effect” you.
@phendrick I don’t know. I let my mind winder.
@phendrick Perhaps you look like you could use one?
@phendrick @pmarin They already had me with ‘lay’ vs. ‘lie’.
I bought a similar pair of these made by Logitech a year or two back, and they wouldn’t charge Pro Max-sized phones, although they worked great with the standard models. Any idea how these are with the larger phones?

@bartsimpson @werehatrack i misspoke. My case is no longer an otterbox brand but it is almost identical to the defender series yes.
Can’t find a review by a third party ie Macworld or someone that’s not selling them online anywhere. Compatible versus certified Qi, No mention of that.
@craigcush The literature says it provides a 10W charge to Qi-compatible devices. Elsewhere it says compatible with Qi-enbabled devices.
@craigcush @heartny Ergo, “trust us, we say it works even though we haven’t paid for that to be formally tested and certified by somebody whose reputation depends on accuracy.”

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
MICRO-USB
you have been warned
@uscpsycho It comes with cables, so I don’t think that’s a deal-breaker for me.
@uscpsycho Good looking out. I missed that. I dream of the day when we’ve cycled out of all the micro USB and lightning devices in my life.
@petefm815 @uscpsycho
But once you plug this in you never have to fiddle with it again…
/showme my mind windering
@ybmuG A friend of mine talks about “wondering around,” which sounds kind of delightful, like he’s strolling through places pondering what he sees.
@ybmuG came here just to comment on that. Did no one else catch the mind “winder” error?
I bought these (for more $$!) on SideDeal and liked them so much I bought them on SideDeal again. Alas, they were only offered in black both times. Tempted by the pretty colors as they work great for me. (iPhone X in Spigen case)
Will these work on a Pixel 4 or 5? I know nothing about qi or non-qi, but I’m told my phones are non-qi. Anybody know?
@Chakolate
according to Tom’s Guide you can use qi chargers if they support EPP (but not sure if this one does…)

Object lesson: READ CAREFULLY
“With its ease-of-use, this charging stand works for any device that is compatible with Qi charging, iPhones, AirPods, Androids and more”
Shouldn’t there be a colon after ‘QI charging’? I was thinking it was a list of things this would charge, not that ONLY Qi capable devices would work.
My bad, but my neighbor was glad to get them.
Apparently these don’t work with a magnet on the back. Guess I was supposed to know that?!? I do not remember reading it anywhere and everyone I know has a magnet on the back for a car windowsill mount
@kitkatinfl
… guess we haven’t met then.
Two came in the box but unfortunately only one of the Griffin stands worked.
@user40460976 your next stop is meh.com/support to let them know, if you haven’t already done so.
recd. both dont work at all
@neerajverma1 your next stop is meh.com/support to let them know, if you haven’t already done so.
They are not fast charging, but they do the job. I’ve had one fail so far. I have not had time to deal with it but will.
@noadave If you DO figure out how to make the failed ones work again, please share!
worked great at first, but in a month or 2, half of them started blinking blue & green & wouldn’t charge anymore!
