Where’s the App for this? Also, how come there are images of people using this outside when the specs clearly state a room size, and I quote, since it will probably be delete: Room Size Range 300-500 sq. ft.
@dahobbs9@ergomeh put one on and power it up, cut a huge fart, and you are guaranteed to have that oudeur (said with a pinky out) ventilated to all 8 corners of said space.
Has anyone seen a description or review that happens to mention what kind of USB port these have? I refuse to buy any new crap with mini-USB or, god forbid, mini-B ports
@Fuzzalini I usually use it on a lower setting and I don’t even notice the noise. (I’m not using it in a library, usually at a ball game or something, so it isn’t exactly quiet where I am)
@geekgal I bought a different brand of neck fan a few years back because a co-worker said it helped with her hot flashes, and I can confirm she was correct. Worked so well I’m tempted to buy these to have back-ups.
@macphoenix The white dot is obviously the hole in the image where the the logo from somewhere else had been covered up, but the fuchsia dot that covered it was probably deemed to be too obvious, so it was allowed to escape and take the logo with it. (The same hole is present in the image on the Target website.) I do not know how our 'bot tracked down and captured the dot.
I’m gonna buy a set, if they aren’t USB C, well, I’ve bought some port conversions I’ve been meaning to try out and this could be a good time.
I tried to find a user manual but had no luck, even with specifying PDF. I am assuming that since it doesn’t brag about USB-C then it’s probably micro-USB . . although, I think C is ubiquitous enough that it’s becoming the default USB for many cheap products
@sixsmith And many such are USB-C in shape only, refusing to deliver power unless connected via an A-to-C cable. This is in strict adherence with the long-standing tradition of There Shall Never Be A Standard That Doesn’t Get Buggered.
@werehatrack Hm, I bought the USB-C port components that came with the resistor to initiate charging, but I am now realizing I don’t know for sure if it will work with C-C; fortuitously, I am still very vested in A-C for charging, so even if I cannot charge via C-C, I’ll still be okay
@sixsmith@werehatrack yep…it’s a crap-shoot. You just have to try a c-to-c to find out if it works. More than likely it will not for these cheap devices.
Just received mine. They are USB-A to USB-C. Which is good, because only one of them came with a charging cable. Also, while the instructions say that the light turns red while charging, and goes off when done, the light actually flashes blue while charging, then goes to solid blue.
They do create a nice breeze. A cold front just came through, so it will be a couple of weeks before I can give them a good test.
I actually have a multi port power strip (grounded polarized prongs, USB-A, USB-C) and that works with every USB-C device except laptops that are on. The secret is that the USB-C output doesn’t have a high current and thus won’t ever listen to a circuit that supports charging at a higher speed.
Just took mine out of the box, charged it and the power button broke off. Cheap… Now the the decision to trash it or go through the manufacturer warranty. Waste of money.

@ergomeh I would LOVE to see one ventilate a 300 - 500 SQ FT room

These have got to be the most uncomfortable looking headphones I’ve ever seen. On top of that I bet they only make ocean noise.
@tweezak Your review should be in Consumer Reports.

WHY not ADD bluetooth speakers in any way possible? Without it- meh.
Also, for ‘more’ use, MOUNT them in the Freezer well before use.
If I apply them to my sack, Will they grab on to my short hairs?

Has anyone seen a description or review that happens to mention what kind of USB port these have? I refuse to buy any new crap with mini-USB or, god forbid, mini-B ports
@solfrost I found a review on Target saying that these charge via a micro USB connector.
@solfrost One of the Target reviews says USB-C
@solfrost Had the same question. Based on responses, clear as mud
@solfrost I bought these last time, when they charged by mini USB. They may have changed the design.
@Chakolate @solfrost u probably mean micro-usb.
I have a similar unit. Great for hot days, really helps keep my head and neck cool.
@dpease How noisy is it? I just bought one of these and it’s noisy as hell.
@dpease @Fuzzalini Apparently these are noisy too:
https://meh.com/forum/topics/2-pack-frigidaire-portable-neck-cooling-fan#69e7a585d2256642d5628b39
Although I checked the Target reviews and people say it’s noisy on the highest level but okay on the lower settings.
@Fuzzalini I usually use it on a lower setting and I don’t even notice the noise. (I’m not using it in a library, usually at a ball game or something, so it isn’t exactly quiet where I am)
@dpease I’m planning on using it at baseball games. The sun is directly on our seats. I’m hoping it’s quiet enough for there.
@Fuzzalini that’s the main place I use it, and it works great. Good luck

So, Frigidaire is right up there with Hell+Bowell now?
Also, no charging cables included? Weird.
Portable Neck Cooling Fan??? More like Crack & Sack Chiller if you’re me.
@Pufferfishy Depends on where your head is at, clearly.
@Jonas4321
In for one (well 2 really)hoping these will chill out the hot flashes!!

Why is that white dot there in the promotional image?!? Why???
@macphoenix See the fuchsia dot above? The white dot represents the escape of the fuchsia dot from the promotional image.

I bought these last time. They do what they’re supposed to, but make a lot of noise.
@Chakolate Are they loud enough to annoy the person in the next cubicle who complains about my extra-clicky keyboard?
@Chakolate Do the ports on the fans take USB-C or micro-USB or otherwise?
@werehatrack Let me put it this way: the guy who mows my lawn liked to wear them white mowing.

@krez56 When a device is shipped with an A to C cable, that often means that it won’t charge with C to C, which can be really annoying.
@krez56 @werehatrack not always, but often here.
