Product: 2-Pack: Eggtronic Sirius 65-Watt GaN Adapter with 6FT USB-C Cable
Model: PAWH65
Condition: New
Charge your laptop and all your other USB-C devices with Sirius 65W, a universal USB-C laptop charger.
Versatile, lightweight and pocket-sized, this GaN fast charger is an essential travel companion.
The minimalist body design plugs in flush to the wall, maximizing space behind furniture, while the foldable prongs and detachable USB-C cable make it easy to take on the go.
Sirius is also an environmentally conscientious choice: thanks to patented EcoVoltas charging technology, the power adapter reaches a 93% energy efficiency rate, reducing both energy consumption and CO₂ emissions over time.
Valve’s own USB-C charger supplies 45W of power, regardless of whether you have an OLED or LCD version of the Steam Deck. The cable isn’t detachable, so you can’t upgrade the adapter separately for better output.
Can I use any charger to charge my Steam Deck?
Technically anything that can connect via USB-C should deliver power, but all Steam Deck models consume around 15W or so while active, so you’ll need at least that to sustain a Deck, and more to gradually recharge it. Realistically, we wouldn’t use anything less than a 45W charger.
For maximum charging speeds you’ll want a 65W adapter. Anything rated beyond that is useable, but won’t make a difference — charging will be limited to what the Steam Deck can handle.
@The_Tim I have no clue where they came up with that. I was never able to get above 45 watts with the Ally 65w adapter or a plethora of Baseus and Bluetti power banks that supported 100 watt PD. Shoot, I actually never got over 43 watts. I can’t find anything else that collaborates that article but maybe it is from a newer firmware?
What is nice though is having the headroom to run a dock and a few accessories and still have 45 watts for the deck.
@ohhwell@The_Tim I think they were probably recommending the 65W-capable charger on the theory that it has the 45W that the deck pretty clearly was built to accept (since that’s what their charger would deliver), with a little reserve that could be expected to keep the charger from getting into the operational ranges where heat could be a problem. And after reading the many reports online saying “this charger promised $X but only delivered half that”, advising people to go high on the specs is also adding a fudge factor for “that which we did not provide may not meet any reasonable standard, let alone ours.”
@haydesigner You may be right about the cables alone being worth the buy… as long as they aren’t cheap cables that only support charging, not data (or is that not a concern for USB-C cables?).
@richrauch crappy “basic charge only, does not support negotiation protocols” USB-C cables definitely exist, as we’ve discovered here. A cheap C-C cable with that shortcoming was included with a recent purchase, and had a C-A adapter in the kit. Apparently it was wired with only the connections that mattered to a USB 2.0 A plug.
@k4evryng Should be good. Nice thing about USB-C Power Delivery (PD) is the device negotiates with the charger how much power it wants to take and the charger gives options for what it can provide. The two ends come to an agreement and charging happens.
@k4evryng I was wondering the same thing so I googled it and this is what I got…
Yes, you can use a 65W charger to charge your phone, even if your smartphone like Samsung only supports 18W or 25W charging. The phone will only draw the amount of power that it needs, so there is no risk of overcharging or damaging the battery. In fact, using a higher wattage charger might speed up the charging time.
@k4evryng Broadly speaking, chargers like these have separate circuits that will charge at common voltage/amperage combinations like 5v@3A, 9v@3A, etc.
I just looked it up on another site and output is advertised as:
Output Voltage
20 VDC
5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, 20V
but with a max amperage of a little over 3.0A, which more or less makes it a standard 15W, 30W, 45W, and 65W. Phones, etc. will charge at 15W or so, mid-range devices at 30W, lower-voltage laptops at 45W and mid-range laptops at 65W.
@k4evryng@Lynnerizer It will also tax your battery, and the only reason this works is because most higher wattage chargers have dedicated circuits to charge lower wattage devices. if you read the sticker on the back you’ll see that they charge at various combinations like:
5V@3A, 9V@3A, 15V@3A and 20V@3.25A for a 65W charger over USB-C
OR
5V@2A/3A, 9V@3A, 12V@3A and 15V@2A—or 30W max for USB-A (which is limited by the fact that there are only 9 pins/wires to carry voltage).
Generally speaking, if you can charge your battery at a slower rate, you should.
@dvermilion@k4evryng@Lynnerizer “It will also tax your battery…Generally speaking, if you can charge your battery at a slower rate, you should.”
This is not a practical concern for a modern device. They all include charge controllers that will monitor battery characteristics like state of charge and temperature and adjust charging current accordingly. Restricting charging current using an underpowered charger only means charging will take longer. Maybe your battery will last an extra month or two, if it’s a low quality battery in a low quality device that won’t last more than ~24 months anyway.
Thank you so much! I knew I could count on in depth answers from you guys.
(I honestly think Meh has the coolest and most intelligent group of forum members I’ve ever encountered, and I love learning from you all. I used to be smart, but I think my kids took every brain cell I had, and now I have to count on the kindness of others. )
These are a great price (though it looks like GaN adapters have hit the floor in pricing lately) but I loaded up on the one that pops up every now and again ()
I use that USB-A port way more than I’d expect, but I dooo like that today’s sits a bit closer to the wall. Better center of gravity when you’re using plug adapters while traveling.
@52rings The trick is to buy things you don’t need or want, and then put them in an extra room in your house. One day, while looking for something you really need, you’ll have to dig through all the meh purchases. Then you’ll remember you put that thing somewhere else. Not sure if that helps, but it’s my system.
@yakkoTDI I have yet to get two uses from a set of wired earbuds that were left where a cat could find them and bite the wire in two. They don’t eat them, they just destroy them and leave the two pieces in different parts of the house.
@pmarin@Thinkerer@thWookie@yakkoTDI mind treat anything that’s dangly and bitable as a valid target. I’ve had to replace several mice because of that. Yes, I know, they make wireless mice. Those don’t work very well for me, for a variety of reasons.
Gallium nitride? Bit of a solid-state chem nerd here, so thanks for the rabbit hole of papers I’m about to fall down! Never heard of this being used outside of doping rubies for lasers
I ordered these HOPING they would charge my HP Pavilon while using the laptop and it would still charge while using. I AM SERIOUSLY IMPRESSED! Great Product!!! Thanks MEH! And I can still charge my phone and portable speaker. One charger for all!

Nice to see products coming out of their shell to be on Meh.
@yakkoTDI the products have been hatching this plan for a while you see.
@ohheyitsmrwang @yakkoTDI Enough with the yolks. Be sirius.
@ohheyitsmrwang @warpedrotors @yakkoTDI tempted to buy these, but since they are from an unknown brand, I”m a little chicken.
Is it safe to trust these no-name brands with such high wattage?
@thechilipepper0 Customers on Amazon don’t seem bothered.

@pmarin Unless it kills you with something else instead.
Only one reviewer said it was hot and went so far as to say to cool it off before packing away the charger
Sure, I’m in. One of these will be a lot more compact than the official Steam Deck charger on trips, and even charges faster. Win/win.
/showme mentionable-opaque-hammer
@mediocrebot IT will not charge any faster than the 45 watts the deck is designed for.
@ohhwell I was just going by what I read in this article.
@The_Tim I have no clue where they came up with that. I was never able to get above 45 watts with the Ally 65w adapter or a plethora of Baseus and Bluetti power banks that supported 100 watt PD. @The_Tim @werehatrack That’s not what the article said though. I do agree that so many chargers over-represent and under-deliver.
The black ones are $13/ea on Amazon (but I bought these because…Meh)
But contrary to stereotypes…not any larger
@CraigDanger uh excuse you, that’s the 13.37-est of prices on the black one. It’s like we’re back in the 2000’s and l33t spe@k rules.
@CraigDanger @ryanbruce k3wl.

Honestly, this is almost worth it for the cords alone. I was just looking the other day for a longer USB-C cord. The power adapters are bonuses to me.

Tempted to get them just for the novelty of side folding prongs.
I’ll probably lose my good charger and regret not getting these
I like the compact 100w white one that came from a kickstarter campaign that has an extra usb-a for my phone.
Tech idiot here.
You can use these for phones/ipads, right? Or is too powerful and just for laptops?
I’m in for a set either way in case they sell out, lol! They’ll get used.

Am I the only one that thinks the first picture reminds them of a refrigerator? Maybe that’s their connection to eggs, or to batteries.
(Also, that’s the weirdest prong-folding move I’ve ever seen.)

So what, exactly, is wrong with wired earbuds? Never have to charge them, dirt cheap, sound great…
@Thinkerer If you have cats or a rabbit or a parrot, you know what the problem with wired earbuds can be.
@Thinkerer @werehatrack
This is why I am a dog person … because I hate shoes not audio equipment.
@Thinkerer @thWookie @werehatrack I have never had a cat eat my headphone cables.
