@Kidsandliz She’s using it as a magic wand though, since she’s dressed as a witch. Was hoping for some epic ObiWan vs Anikan (however it is spelled) with the 2-pack
@lilpaox USB charging is convenient and means you don’t lose your lone proprietary charger, but with a 5v top USB is potentially a lot slower than other charging schemes. For something like this I’ll take proprietary if it means faster charging.
They’re not bad. Have one clinging to the refrigerator for years. Use it maybe once a month. I’d swear I only paid $5 for it though. Think it was a woot purchase.
@norman8 Well there are some reviews for one that looks identical. And I have one that looks identical that I bought at a brick and mortar that sells meh style crap probably 5 or 6 years ago and it worked fine. Brighter than all the flashlights I owned, lasted a decent amount of time. But not house light bulb bright.
Made the wrong comment and said I have never seen a flashlight on Meh.com or the old Woot.com I didn’t buy so I am in for this one as well. This should light the warehouse up and will be the last flashlight I buy. I have something similar already but it takes and eats batteries bought these because they can be recharged. I am enjoying the Dorcy flashlight and headlamp I got here a few weeks ago but again they take batteries and use them up quickly. Hope this solves all my problems good name brand light that will light my warehouse so I can pick my orders that I can recharge and save money on batteries.
The tax is pissing me off!!! However, this is a great deal delivered, seriously can someone explain the tax? its only supposed to be charged if the product is from your home state so Meh who is this tax going to Mehs income tax ? EXPLAIN PLEASE?
@mellowirishgent You’re not exactly correct either. It’s not about the product, it’s about the retailer. If the retailer has a presence (physical store, warehouse, etc.) in the state, tax should be applied.
If it was about the product, only the state of China would be charged…
@cinoclav Sorry me asking about paying almost an extra 9% offends you I’m very mellow until I’m not, don’t let the name fool you I’m a maniac at heart !!!
@mellowirishgent I’m not offended at all. It was just the perfect opportunity for a sarcastic comment! Though I am slightly offended by an almost 9% sales tax. Ouch!
These look exactly like a couple I have from that failure we used to know as “Sears”. They were around $30 each, when I bought them 10-12 years ago. They are still working fine, except one of them is really worse for the wear: plastic tube covering led strip is almost completely disintegrated.
They work great around the house, and when working in the dark depths of those things we call “cars”. A little on the “fat” side, so they get banged around a bit. Battery is on the large side too, so they last a long time between charges.
I debated for a couple seconds, as the price is on the “high” side of what I like to pay for my meh junque, but they are my favorite portable light, and the one disintegrating will only take a couple more drops and bangs and it will transform into led light toast. So, I’m in for one (pair) of light daggers. Which makes me excited enough to say “meh”. And I think that’s the point…
Found two reviews. Both one star criticizing the power switch (impossible to operate when unit is cold) and breakage. Still gonna buy because I’m addicted to buying junk from Meh.com
I have a craftsman that looks exactly like these. Its one of the only tools not stolen when someone broke into my garage a couple weeks ago. It works great, I’ve had it for about 6 years. Its a Really nice work light as it spreads light really well. The light on the end is ok but not super bright. Works great for working on a car or in a tent or vehicle. Not really a great light for walking through the woods or anything but that’s obviously not what this is.
@RedOak haha yep. Craftsman is not the same as it used to be. Unfortunately I did have a craftsman wrench set and screwdriver set that were american made when the lifetime guarentee was something to brag about… replacing those is going to be tough and expensive.
@RedOak I’m sure thats true. I never saw that warranty when it was good. Those tools were my dad’s thats kinda the worst part about them being gone. I wouldn’t take anything in under the warranty now. I’ll just go to an estate sale or something, I have used the crap they have now and I’m not interested. Are there any quality tool brands still made in the US? Expensive is fine honestly I’m willing to pay for quality
Estwing hammers, hatchets, pry bars (not every model is US-made)
Channellock pliers, screwdrivers, combo wrenches (not every model is US-made)
Klein pliers
Vaughan hammers, pry bars (not every model is US-made)
Armstrong, Martin, Proto, SK, Williams, and Wright all have many US-made wrenches, ratchets, & sockets
I’ve heard (rumors?) that Stanley/Black & Decker co. has plans to re-launch Craftsman US-made hand tools (via Ace & Amazon) later in 2018 & into the future.
@RedHot I lost all my tools too - with the exception my dad’s wood handled screwdriver with all sorts of heads - all my tools were craftsman and they were stolen when I moved. For the first time in ages I had every tool I owned and every piece of every part used to put together my furniture in that tool chest. It was the loss of 1864 knobs to my great grandmother’s pump organ though that were in the tool box (I needed to reglue them) that was the most upsetting, along with my dad’s screwdriver. Getting replacement screws and parts for furniture was a pain. The tools were all the older, nicer ones. I had had them for years. Even the metal tool chests are crappier these days. Drawers on mine pulled smoothly, the replacement ones don’t fit well and wobble.
Just got my pair of light daggers. Same physical size as my craftsman ones, but slightly different led layout and charger end. Seem to be just about same brightness. This was certainly a better than “meh” deal. If they last as long and are as durable as the ones I already have, this was a very good value for the dollar. Thanks again meh!
One year on Amazon and no reviews? Who cares anyway, only the review trolls in their safe place, and they have nothing else to do. Two for $12 and if only one works it’s still a good deal.
@clarion47 2 for $24, not so much. When these came out a decade or so ago, they may have been priced appropriately. Even though the design is ancient, these hopefully came from a later batch, and thus the batteries may “only” be 7 or 8 years old.
Those LEDs aren’t as efficient as modern ones, so they run hotter. Thus they are spaced farther apart than in a modern design. That is why a 250 lumen light is so big.
Likewise, the battery chemistry is from another period in history. I didn’t review all of the pictures yet. Does product label brag about Lithium batteries. If not, it probably has the much larger Nimh cells, or worse NiCd with it’s heavy metal waste issue.
Even if it is lithium, it is likely an older style that charges slowly.
Really trying to pry one of my three still untouched vmpbribe" codes loose to make this deal $14. But so far my Meh-Hoard-Fatigue remains entrenched.
Use cases:
Our off grid vacation property with an un-lit pole barn… where we also camp.
Our inconsistently lit garage full of “important” stuff we’ll need some day. (Although, thanks to those string LED lights from here on Meh, the light is improved.)
these type of lights need to die off already. they are super duper duper bright and jarring if you look directly at them, but actual lighted area is kinda meh.
need new generation of LEDs and slightly warmer light colors.
I wanted this item but since I now have to pay tax on it I’m going to pass tonight. Call it a protest if you want !!! Now that tax is in effect items I would normally be on the fence with and buy I am now going to pass on Gabeesh?
Yeah, three cuts on my hands too from the “total-frustration” packaging. But once out of the packs and charged (and blood wiped off them!), these are great lights for the price. I’m very happy with them. Bigger than I expected, but much brighter too. The only improvement would have been to spread out the area lighting more. It’s almost as concentrated as the “spot” light on the end.
Old, practical, attracts silent customers, and clearly an inventory liquidation. My Meh has finally returned!!! And I pass.
What? You thought nostalgia could overcome my cheap gene?
“Roger… I think I just found a use for our defunct curling iron factory.”
Looking at the wall wart, how old are these? Almost every device made it the past decade uses slimmer universal voltage switching-type wall warts.
I have to admit, I’m disappointed you didn’t have a lightsaber bit for the final image.
@Ozzie2191 being held by the baby arm.
@Kidsandliz She’s using it as a magic wand though, since she’s dressed as a witch. Was hoping for some epic ObiWan vs Anikan (however it is spelled) with the 2-pack

No thank you…

@norman8 BUY! BUY NOW!!

Found two reviews. Both one star criticizing the power switch (impossible to operate when unit is cold) and breakage. Still gonna buy because I’m addicted to buying junk from Meh.com
According to Amazon, their batteries are Lithium Ion, not the often crappy NiMH or really crappy NiCd. So there’s that.
The Dorcy product page does not confirm but the user manual at that page claims a 4 hour charge time. Seems reasonable for a cheap light.

@RedHot haha
I’ve noticed Craftsman tools, unless they are clearly 25 years or older mechanics tools and screw drivers tend to stay lonely at Estate Sales.
Not quite as lonely as Harbor Freight tools, but still lonely.
@RedOak haha yep. Craftsman is not the same as it used to be. Unfortunately I did have a craftsman wrench set and screwdriver set that were american made when the lifetime guarentee was something to brag about… replacing those is going to be tough and expensive.
@RedHot from what I’ve heard, when you go in to claim that lifetime warranty, they simply hand you today’s Craftsman crap.
@RedOak I’m sure thats true. I never saw that warranty when it was good. Those tools were my dad’s thats kinda the worst part about them being gone. @RedHot I know the dad’s real Craftsman tool feeling. Have a bunch of them.
You wouldn’t like the price of good quality new mechanics tools these days. They tend to be via jobber trucks like Snap-On.
Searching for good tools at an estate sale is a good bet tho. The challenge is getting there before the other folks with the same search idea!
Got a really nice industrial grade cast iron cylinder air compressor for $100 that way. Probably a $600-800 new.
@RedHot @RedOak There’s always been a stark boundary between mechanical Craftsman tools and anything electronic.
@RedHot @RedOak
I’ve heard (rumors?) that Stanley/Black & Decker co. has plans to re-launch Craftsman US-made hand tools (via Ace & Amazon) later in 2018 & into the future.
@RedHot Really sorry to hear about the theft. That sucks beyond suckage. Thanks for all the follow up on decent tools, though.

This packaging is no fucking joke. It is way, way, way over the top. Good luck cutting it, then leaving razor sharp shards.
But what a nice light! Shiney!
Great lights. Would buy again
Very happy with these lights. Bright, tough, charge lasts a long time, cheap.
On wishes are that the light pattern was wider, and that the switch wasn’t so damn stiff below 50°F!
