@norman8 Yup and they are defective in bright sunshine if you are wanting darkness. Of course if you have cat, dog, spouse, significant other, etc who sleeps across your head and eyes that might not be a problem.
I ordered one about a year and a half ago. It’s very comfortable, and the wires only wore out a short time ago, probably due to just normal wear and tear rolling on it during sleep and whatnot. I recommend this, it’s pretty nice to have music/podcasts on when going to sleep.
@sudynim I mean, I assume you’re making fun of me, but on the off chance you were actually asking, no, they don’t. Lining is smooth and doesn’t cause the face to sweat or clog pores in the morning. Very comfortable.
@boygenius1991@sudynim i wondered the same thing. I’m insanely hot natured and can’t stand having stuff on my face like this but this looks like a great (well…) gift for my kid who tries to burn the house down listening to music with his phone in his bed.
I bought a pair of these the first time they were offered. Still super comfortable after daily use (1.5 years) and haven’t had any issues with the bt. The bt speakers absolutely suck for music but if you listen to ambient sounds (heavy rain for me) its perfect.
I have this. Don’t remember where from or how much. Works ok. No longer use the BT, can’t sleep with music. The only downside is the metal zipper pull dangling in my right ear.
I bought these on Morning Save and wished I had used restraint.
They are very hot to wear. They do not breathe at all. If you’re the type of person that wears a parka on a 65 degree day, you’ll probably be fine.
They are dust, lint and pet hair magnets. keep a sticky dust roller handy. If you have allergies, these are not for you.
Yes the speakers are lousy but acceptable for trying to sleep. Not so much for anyone else trying to sleep. They are the same volume for the person next to you. Don’t use them on a plane or your going to get kicked.
They do keep light out which is what their intent started out to be before they layered BT on.
Six hours of battery life is being generous, more like four. So 2-4 days of charge. Your ears will feel the speakers even though they are too far back for average sized heads.
Due to marketing errors, I only paid $7.50 each and after a 9 night run, they are back in their box somewhere. Your mileage will vary I’m sure. For me, meh
I bought these bluetooth headphones the last time they were offered because the audio in my car went out. I put them on and got in an accident. I’m sending them back.
I bought two of theses time before last. Nice enough, but when the battery is low they beep. Which is completely unnecessary, and drastically reduced the lifetime of the pair I had on at the time.
The quality on these is not fabulous. I still use a pair of them every night because I can’t fall asleep at night with the tiniest amount of light in my eyes and I like to listen to audiobooks to fall asleep. I have to buy them whenever they come up because they are now necessary to my sleep routine and I don’t know when my current pair will die on me. They aren’t exceptionally comfortable; some mornings I wake up with a sweaty forehead, but that’s actually pretty rare (I live in NorCal and it always gets cool here at night, though, so it would be hella different if I still lived in Chicago). Sometimes I get achy ears, so beware if you have excess cerumen issues and/or a tragus or cartilage piercing.
The fact that they beep in your ear when they are running out of charge is annoying as hell, as are the excessively bright blinking red and blue lights when the Bluetooth feature is on and you’re wearing them in a dark room. So is the inaccurate/quasi-non-existent charge status reporting on my phone (they only show up in the battery widget in the today view of iOS, but the battery is either 100%, 90%, 80% or 70%, so I only ever know they’ll need a charge if they’re at 80% or less and they may or may not stop working in a matter of minutes even then). I wish I could disable the ability to answer/receive calls with them, because the ringing alert is sooo loud, and I can’t imagine the mic actually working in any way. Also, I never get phone calls in the morning from anyone who cares about me, so it just angers me when they steal my sleep.
They’re still more comfortable and effective than just wearing my EarPods to bed with a light eye mask, so until something superior comes along, which is unlikely, because my needs are not those of a wide market, I need to stock up on these while I can. I should be buying two sets of two, but I can’t bring myself to spend close to $50 at once on them. Hopefully they come up again so I can just keep buying pairs of pairs for under $30 and feel like I’m not spending all that much even though I’d probably spend $200 just to make sure I always have a pair, since they’re the only thing that have helped my insomnia.
@jitc Aha! I foolishly posted a message asking for feedback on these items without reading Tom see whether anyone had already done so! My bad. Because I listen to an iPod, I don’t hafta worry about incoming calls, at least, but the “beeping” about the battery takes me back. That’s something that hadn’t ever crossed my mind, because why would someone do this?
It seems, though, that the upshot of your message is that this is more comfortable than the eyemask/earbuds combo I currently use, though. Am I correct about that? Also, the “memory foam” part suuure sounds as if my face’ll like it.
Tell me something: how apt are these to shift and along bring morning sun to stream into my eyes? Because they look solid and not especially flexible, that appears to be a worry. Am I correct about that? And do these actually have buds which go into my ears? (My ears do get ever so sore from rolling around with buds in ‘em.) Thanks so much for the feedback!
@BinkyMelnik the battery beeping is annoying, but not as bad as the phone call noise, so there’s that at least. Either is easily remedied by just turning off the things. I think the main reason they implement this technique is because they lack any sort of other low battery indicator. It doesn’t translate at all accurately to the device that’s controlling playback, and it doesn’t have any sort of visual signal that the battery might be low.
I have zero complaints about the memory foam bit that covers the eyes apart from it sometimes creating an overly warm environment when the ambient temperature has risen. It’s actually probably the most comfortable part.
I don’t know how turbulent a sleeper you are, but I have nary had an issue (at least not a significantly bothersome one) with them slipping and exposing sunlight. They are much more reliable in that regard than the typical airline eyemask. They are also wonderfully opaque in a way I haven’t really experienced with my previous lighter weight masks. I can actually get sleep facing in a full sun direction with them on, which to me is worth the price of admission alone on these summer days when sunset breaks at ungodly-o’clock in the morning. They are solid, but not in an immovable way. I don’t know if it’s that I have a small head size or what, but I actually have to manipulate the strap on them a little to get tight enough around my head to wear they don’t feel like they’re falling down. They can move easily so you can adjust them without having them expose you to too much light.
They do not have earbuds, thank goodness. They do have little rectangular plastic boxes on the interior of the band, about the width of the memory foam insert in the front, so rather bulky. I had a conversation with another person who had bought them on a different thread who couldn’t handle their bulk and stopped using them. I find them less earache-inducing than the combination earbuds and eyemask I was using prior. Some days are worse than others, it just depends on the state of my ears and sleeping position. Today I woke up with no issue at all.
I read in your reply to your own comment that space is at a minimum for you — I live in a small space with my husband and son, although definitely more than a 10x13 room. I don’t know what sort of packing in you’re already doing, but you should be pleased to know that these are packed in a fairly space-efficient manner, and would tuck into a drawer somewhere rather easily. The fact that the female usb hardware on my first pair was contorted beyond repair such that it won’t charge properly makes me think having three extra pairs around would not be a bad idea (four, in my case). If they don’t work out for you, I’m sure the local charity resale nearby would be happy to have them.
As someone who actually often sleeps with an eyemask (no Bluetooth) and earbuds (which is very painful after the second day in a row), these are very tantalizing. I’d be grateful for head from someone who’s used these. Because they appear to be solid and stiff, don’t they lift away from your face when you roll over, thereby letting the searing morning sun in? Or are they soft enough not to do that?
I like to listen to “white noise”-type apps (my “white noise” is generally the sound of a train clacking over the tracks, or water lapping against a sailboat), and these masks sound delightfully comfortable, thanks to the foam. I’d be grateful for someone talking me into or out of buying these. Because my current set-up is less than ideal (and less than comfortable), I’d prefer to be talked into ‘em.
Thanks for letting me know how these work for you, ideally while there’re some left for me to buy.
@BinkyMelnik Aw, nertz. I now see that I need to buy two 2-packs. But I’ve only one pair of eyes. I don’t know where to store the other three pairs. (Space s tight when one lives in a 10’x13’ room.) While I realize the works out to $8/each, the fact that I’ll be tripping over eye masks for the rest of my days doesn’t appeal. Phooey.
I picked up two last time, and I have one piece of advice. If you’ve got short hair, (normal male styles, etc), remove the inner padding, flip it upside down, re-insert it, then wear it upside down. The strap normally secures to the nape of the neck, which is way too low to stay on without slipping down. If you just wear it upside down without flipping the inner padding, it covers and pushes on your nose. There’s a cut-out section for your nose on the inner padding, so by flipping it, your nose will still have room when you wear it upside down. Other than that, it’s surprisingly comfortable and soft without over-heating you, and the speakers are on par with expectations for the price.
Additionally, the user’s manual hilariously says to use the “Play” button for every input task, (fast-forwarding, rewinding, volume, etc). In reality, the buttons work intuitively: Hold down forward to increase volume, hold down back to decrease volume, click forward to go to the next song, etc.
@Kidsandliz
I’ve taken it out on a couple of occasions when I wanted to diagnose what was wrong with it because it didn’t want to power on. Never really figured out what happened. It just decided to power on again later.
I actually purposely remove the controller pad speaker from its pocket to cover up the damn lights so they don’t bother my husband if I’m lying on the side where they’d be exposed, blinking stupidly bright into our dark bedroom.
@Kidsandliz Yes, you can take everything out, remove the speakers and wire from the padded insert, (may require un/restitching), and put back only the padded insert. No real need to restitch it if you pull open only the necessary number of stitches to remove the speaker
@Echo154@jitc@boygenius1991Thanks folks for answering. I can’t sleep when it is light and if these are nice once you get rid of the speakers, etc. (I am a side sleeper so I am pretty sure the speakers, etc. would make it unusable for me) they might be nice for that since some people say they block out all the light and are comfortable that way.

Eye don’t see u with these-Meh mask !
I was born with eye masks. They’re called lids.
@norman8 nice. Planning to add bluetooth?
@norman8 that made me laugh out loud, Norman!
@norman8 Yup and they are defective in bright sunshine if you are wanting darkness.
Of course if you have cat, dog, spouse, significant other, etc who sleeps across your head and eyes that might not be a problem.
Considering how many times these have come around here and on MorningSave, I’m assuming these Gabba Goods are more like Bagga Bads.
@lljk or fukofuko
More Bluetooth stuff …

Does it have a knife attachment?
/giphy weak sauce

This is another item that I might at least consider buying at $12-ish but I’m nowhere near nutzy enough to invest $24. Really, Meh!

This would be an insta-buy @$10/1. Gambling on multiples that are of potentially spurious quality, I’d have to have a name along the lines of meh.
My instabuy (aka Fuck it, why not?) is closer to $6, but otherwise agree completely.
These need some ambient noise tunes. My favorite is wave crashing, but not running water (though my kidneys seem to).
these make really shitty waffles.
@alacrity Wait, What about margaritas?
@mehcuda67 they gum up the blades in the blender resulting in an alcoholic hairball
I might be interested in Blue eye-tooth masks or Blue-eyed tooth masks, but these… Not so much.
All these reruns – must be summer.
Hear that, Meh? Time to sell stuff to keep us cool during the summer.
Or, as a Floridian, always.
No Pictures- No Sale!!
What if I put these on my dog and cat to make them cosplay Geordi LaForge

@c460053 What you beat them to death when they started beeping?
@Kidsandliz I think Elon refers to it as a RUD (;
I’d take the middle-aged snobby reading lady over those other options any day of the week.
Why does it say you must buy at least 2. I don’t want 2 2 packs that’s 4!!!

@Bumplepimp Yes, yes you can. When you get them home, you can do damn near anything.

@Echo154 @jitc @c460053 @boygenius1991 Can you take the blue tooth junk out of the mask so you can use these as a regular eye mask?
@Kidsandliz no, it’s in there with wires. But you can just ignore it and use it as a normal mask just fine.
@Kidsandliz
I’ve taken it out on a couple of occasions when I wanted to diagnose what was wrong with it because it didn’t want to power on. Never really figured out what happened. It just decided to power on again later.

could someone photoshop these on Jordi from Star Trek…
Mile High Club, baby!
Surprised to see both gray and pink have sold out.
