@dannokun And exactly what is so wrong with these? Have you ever actually used one? ... the technology itself is very simple, so I would imagine they work just fine
@mawayda Yes, I did say I... I didn't accuse anyone else of my failure to connect the straps. I have a new phone, I'm not technically deficient. I contacted their tech support, no reply. I now have two rubber wrist straps, that have lights on them.
Well here we are all again, the ever so popular Twofer Tuesday. We find ourselves at the corner of impulsivity and temptation as we near that janky ass pawn shop on the wrong end of town. As we near that dark alley we again notice that the alley is much emptier than normal, and that filthy temptress is nowhere to be found. Suddenly, Twofer Tuesday rounds the corner and our senses go into overload. Smells and sights that should not normally be witnessed solo are in full and unavoidable force. Twofer Tuesday jumped in on the wearable tracking bandwagon. A damn shame, some things simply can never be unseen. We run, we run as far as we can. Luckily for us, wearable tech and questionable fitness clothing do not transform Twofer into an elite athlete. We escape for another week!
BTW Meh, can we start introducing some new products here. Coming up with new and unique material for Twofer Tuesday is getting rough when products keep getting recycled. Oh snap.
@MehnofLaMehncha I think I'd need a "-1.0 sticker. My son's run a number of marathons and completed a tri-athalon a while back. I was in total awe of the entire concept, let alone his completing it with a good total time. I apparently raised a demented person.
I'll snap ya for only $12 dolla. I know there's gonna be a deal coming up I'm gonna miss, and it's gonna be something I coulda bought for everyone. I can just feel it. And it will be when I'm helping some little old lady across the street, away from her burning house, and no one is gonna believe me. I can just feel it.
Got these last time. They are like the reviews say, HORRIBLE. They said I walked 10 steps when I stood up.... I've also found the app likes to eat my battery away. They feel nice, but the inaccuracy is horrible.... I also wish I didn't have to tell the app that I'm sleeping, rather than it knowing.
@Gamem I wouldn't say 'horrible'. The bracelets seem fairly accurate to me.. The app, however, is HORRIBLE. (At least for Android on my Nexus 6.) I have to force close the app almost every time I want it to connect, and you're right; I have to tell it when I'm sleeping.. My wife and I bought these to see if we'd use them for 2 months and consider a fitbit.. I'm still not sure if we'll make it that long.
Not sure these could keep up with me as I'm currently moving at about 792 mph. Those of you further south are moving a bit faster while those north are going slower.
@cinoclav This holds true heading from north to south until one reaches the equator. After that point, one slows down until the speed is 0 mph at the South Pole.
If you are moving at about 79 mph, shouldn't there be a 'sonic' boom?
@sschong Also holds true going from south to the North Pole beginning at the Equator. At the Equator the rotational speed is approximately 1040 mph. As I'm just outside of Philly, with a latitude of 40°, my speed is around 792 mph.
A sonic boom is caused when an object moves through the atmosphere faster than the speed of sound. As the Earth rotates, so does the surrounding atmosphere, therefore no sonic boom is created.
Okay, I bit. I'll be starting PT shortly, for a knee thing, and these will help keep me honest when I misremember how much I've done today. Miraculous-paunchy-floor images on google are just silly. THIS is what my order looks like:
@phrogpond Both of mine charged (about 6 hours), the app downloaded and works well, and I've been wearing one every day. I did revise my goals downward, so at least I have a good chance of achieving more bars. I'm using Android, a Samsung Galaxy, and it paired perfectly. Out of curiosity, I had a friend install the IOS app and it also paired immediately.
Mine arrived while I was out of town for Christmas. Just getting them set up now.
I've only opened one of the two I ordered so far. It gave me a bit of trouble getting it initially set up, but after unpairing it and starting the process over it worked on the second try.
It seems to be tracking steps fine, and connecting to the app when I open it to view progress. I'll give the sleep tracking a try tonight.
Update: Both trackers powered up and connected fine. Step tracking seems a bit inflated (~10%-20%) compared to other devices. Sleep "tracking" is a joke. It is literally just counting the time between when you manually put it in and out of sleep mode using the app.
For seven bucks each, I'm not disappointed. Definitely Meh.
@Foxborn There's a link in the specs to the apps for iOS & Android - if your account is logged in, it can tell you what, if any, devices you have are compatible. (Assuming you haven't already done this.)
@Foxborn Womp womp. I don't upgrade my phone or tablet yearly, either. I wait until my phone is pissing me off, or until a tablet flat out stops functioning. Only my phone is compatible with this device (though the last model would have been as well.) I hope they find out yours is somehow compatible!
@Thumperchick same here thought I just use a smart phone as a mini tablet (no data plan) I just got a Note 1 but it arrived with a doa sound card Bluetooth works fine but no speakers or headphone
Kept one and gave one as a Christmas gift (arrived Christmas Eve!). Not great. Have had to delete app and reinstall on iPhone several times. Can't use sleep function as it hangs in the am but prefer Sleep Cycle app so no issue. Steps are inflated but you can adjust stride. Battery usage differs from day to day by huge amounts. For the price, could be worse!

Aw snap!
@lichme its snaptastic!
@belowi And it's tracktastic too!
I hate it when I buy something at $20 and then a week later it is $14.
ditto
@cengland0 It's okay, they're really $7.00 each.
@cengland0 Somebody's gotta pay to keep the servers running.
@cengland0 It's okay, you can still buy it at $14 to make yourself feel better.
I bought this for $20... Do I get a reimbursement or what
@yugrudfooz
Snap this deal up
About as useful as this being snapped...
I would advise against these if you want good accuracy of your activity. You get what you pay for.
@dannokun So for better accuracy I should have bought them at $20?
@yakkoTDI hahaha... You're a riot. Smartass
@dannokun And exactly what is so wrong with these? Have you ever actually used one? ... the technology itself is very simple, so I would imagine they work just fine
@dannokun I couldn't get it to synch to my phone
@yakkoTDI I am glad I bought them at $20. Yay superior accuracy!!!
@saggyballs ...with the operative word being "I"
@mawayda Yes, I did say I... I didn't accuse anyone else of my failure to connect the straps. I have a new phone, I'm not technically deficient. I contacted their tech support, no reply. I now have two rubber wrist straps, that have lights on them.
Mehxercise
Who needs it...
@jmhsrv Mehn. Duh.
I have these, and they don't work. I never know what time it is anymore. Worst watches ever.
@phatmass Duh... you have to wear 12 of them and monitor the angle of the shadows.
@phatmass They're binary watches. They can tell time up to 127 O'clock. Study it out.
@phatmass I guess it's time to buy a new watch. #Bazinga
@phatmass You're still doing this avatar thing?
Again?
@judahsma1

@studerc It's long past time for Sansas.
@studerc Yeah we wouldn't know anything about trying to come up with new material to sell the same products time and time again.
@MEHcus at the least you have @jasontoon on retainer so thats basically having an ace in the whole. The man is a wordsmith.
Self inflicted injury though...maybe just sell out of more stuff. :P.
Or.
Send me the leftovers as actual prizes.
Hey for $7 each? Stocking stuffers! (If FedEx doesn't leave them sitting in Connecticut for 6 days like they did my drone.)
"A note of caution, though: that friend of yours with the "13.1" sticker on his or her car?"
Stickers from halfers don't count. If you're trying to find someone to avoid, watch out for the guy with the "26.2" tattoo.
@magic_cave
The "0.0" stickers are popular here
@MehnofLaMehncha Beat the Blerg!
@magic_cave I saw a .262 sticker once.
@Thumperchick
@MehnofLaMehncha I think I'd need a "-1.0
sticker. My son's run a number of marathons and completed a tri-athalon a while back. I was in total awe of the entire concept, let alone his completing it with a good total time. I apparently raised a demented person.
Pretty Amazon review chart, in a symmetrical kind of way.
@RedOak Nope, sorry. My OCD insists the 34% be the middle one.
terrible-inconsistent-mockingbird...
spot on:
terrible = how i will be feeling in the morning after yet another impuse buy
inconsistent = my actual level of fitness that will be driven home by wearing the band
mockingbird = what will be laughing at me as i fumble around the neighborhood sporting the latest craze that i swore i would never buy into.
@annwat My bad. I read it as terrible-incontinent-mockingbird.
@mike808 Falling over laughing here. We have mockers nesting in our trees every year, and they really are messy.
If I wear one on each wrist, will I lose weight twice as fast?
@MehnofLaMehncha No, these are the half fast version.
@mike808
Ankles, too, then?
If it fits baby arm, it's probably too small for me.
I sit at a desk all day, I don't accelerate.
@cranky1950 You are constantly accelerating, just in a downward direction at about 32ft/s².
In 10 years these will be integrated in every pair of shoes.
Baby Arm.

didn't think I'd ever say this (blinking 12 syndrome anyone?) but I wish this electronic gadget had a clock so it could tell me the time...
does it have a clock?
Oh snap, this is crap.
Tempted to buy and put one on each of my dogs' collars to see how active they are while I'm away. Might be amusing.
@jbrookebarrow I'm glad I wasn't the only person to wonder how this would work on my dogs...

Sorry, typo mistake. My fingers were moving too fast. It should be 792 mph, not 79 mph.

@cinoclav Thanks for the science lesson.
Doh, not only did I buy them for $20 before, but I bought six of them to give away as xmas trinkets. (Well, one guy got one for Chaunnukah, so.)
I bought this same deal for $20 a few weeks ago. We love our so much that I recently upgraded to the Swipe C and decided to get two more for gifts.
So when is MEH going to offer something new for a change. Been the same stuff for a while it seems. Think I'm going to give up on my midnight alarm.
Feels like the video of the day should be Singing Cowboy, "No one gives a shit about your fitness thing"
@Oldfeet This is my second favorite Singing Cowboy video.
I hate myself, I wont buy again, I hate myself I paid too much.... shit just bought again.
No windows phone support? Meh.
@kruzen , shouted loudly from the moutaintops, toward noone in particular and yet everyone at once.

You trying to say something, meh?
These are complete junk. Neither one would connect, even after 3 plus support. I'm glad I'm only out $14. I should have known better
@phrogpond Both of mine charged (about 6 hours), the app downloaded and works well, and I've been wearing one every day. None of my mobile devices are compatible, I've emailed the company and have gotten no reply :(
@Foxborn There's a link in the specs to the apps for iOS & Android - if your account is logged in, it can tell you what, if any, devices you have are compatible. (Assuming you haven't already done this.)
@Thumperchick already did and none are, sorry I don't buy a mobile thingy every year :(
@Foxborn Womp womp. I don't upgrade my phone or tablet yearly, either. I wait until my phone is pissing me off, or until a tablet flat out stops functioning. Only my phone is compatible with this device (though the last model would have been as well.)

Craptastic! Never again. Very disappointed. Would ask for refund, but doubt Meh would without receipt.
@quantumguy2015 Oh crap, and it is just now out of full warranty! How the heck did that happen?
