@DannoHung Yeccch! I was thinking it’d be bad enough sipping the coffee grounds which would inevitably float free of the plunger. Overextraction of said grounds… No thanks!
@DannoHung@mikeureko That’s how I drink my tea too. My bigger concern is clean-up. Those bottles look pretty narrow and trying to get all the little tea leaves out mostly compressed into the bottom of the bottle sounds like not fun. I think I’ll stick to individual disposable bags for loose tea.
@DannoHung Wait a second, you are getting 2 mugs right? What’s stopping you from pressing in one and then pouring into the other? Maybe that is why it’s a 2fer?
@DannoHung I don’t see what the big deal is, everyone. There are many ways to brew coffee. I enjoy both things like espresso extracted at high pressure, and light roast single-origin slowly dripped. Both can be excellent, as well as many points in between.
I have a cup similar this but from some other (more reputable?) brand. It came with both the press and a plan sipping lid. I’ve used it when I am in my RV, put some grounds in it, fill with hot water, bring it up into the truck, and slowly sip on it, fine grounds and all. After a few hours of driving, those lukewarm fine grounds are welcome to get me through the drive! Seriously. Maybe not the most ideal flavor for most but it works for me.
@RedOak looks good, but it wouldn’t fit in the bottle holder of a backpack
“prefer to match tool to its purpose” ??? it’s a travel press, that’s its purpose. not sure about the Asobu brand(yet), but have a travel press like it. it’s good for what it is.
The above cited French press does a wonderful job of making coffee whilst keeping the grounds in the bottom after pressing. We use insulted stainless mugs and Bubbas for drinking coffee.
@RedOak got you. this travel press functions like a full size press. meh didn’t show a photo of openings in the top, there are 2. one for the plunger and another to pour/drink from. so once pressed, plunger stays down & grounds stay at bottom when pouring into Bubba.
You guys forgot to include Energy Drinks as an option. And it’s not like it’s just a small segment of the population who get their caffeine that way.
I like a nice cold can of Monster, guava flavor, in their Juice lineup, poured over ice.
Some people scoff at an energy drink company selling something that’s allegedly “juice,” but if you read the ingredients the Monster Juice drinks have a higher percentage of actual juice than most of the V8 bottled juice cocktails, and WAY more juice than Sunny Delight, and other such “juice” beverages. Plus, plenty of caffeine.
One word meh…contigo. They work, and being picky about being cleaned, are definitely “meh”. Which beats “total junk” that belongs on the site that used to be this one, or worse.
Did anyone else get one with a fucked up gasket? One of mine has a flat on it about an inch long, like it was cut with a razor. I have not used it but I am sure the liquid will seek the path of least resistance - and any grounds along with it.
got mine. works well, same as my Bodum travel press. no grounds in pressed coffee even though I forgot to change the grind size. brewed with medium fine ground coffee.
can’t comment on how well it holds temp, I’m a cold coffee person. steep triple strength, then transfer to Bubba & add ice to cold.

I have this exact thing. It is absolute garbage. The grounds continue to steep. Do NOT buy.
@DannoHung Like what do you mean the grounds continue to steep? If you leave them in there, what else would they do?
@DannoHung Yeccch! I was thinking it’d be bad enough sipping the coffee grounds which would inevitably float free of the plunger. Overextraction of said grounds… No thanks!
@DannoHung I mean, that’s how I drink my tea. I let the herbs steep for up to 30 minutes or more, and even while I’m drinking it.
@DannoHung That was my first thought exactly… even without owning them! Yeccch indeed…
@DannoHung @mikeureko That’s how I drink my tea too. My bigger concern is clean-up. Those bottles look pretty narrow and trying to get all the little tea leaves out mostly compressed into the bottom of the bottle sounds like not fun. I think I’ll stick to individual disposable bags for loose tea.
@DannoHung this is what i’m worried about. i’m surprised there aren’t more comments on amazon talking about it?

Asobu? Sounds like a treatment for hemorrhoids.
I really like the copy today. I want more of Dale the… hmm… wereraccoon?
@shiranissosexy It’s suspicious the creature knew his name. We might need a prequel.
Lime? That is what my wife calls Green. Well, she actually says Lime Green because she knows Lime is not really a color.
@hchavers Well, technically, Chartreuse is not a color but a liquer, made my Monks in France. So there!
I like my Bubbas.
@RedOak me too, but they can’t press coffee. when traveling, both Bubba and a travel press are packed.
@RedOak There’s a vote waiting for you.

@mehod prefer to match the tool to its purpose…
We paid $19 for this amazing and well-finished device. Top ten car camping gadget.

@mehod today’s deal is a french press + tumbler.

As noted, “car camping”, not back packing.

<sigh>
FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY!!!
I’m good with my 3-pack vacuum-sealed water bottles you did a while back.
Was interested until I saw that dreaded three-star, plus it’s bullshit to force two on us, as usual.
@Dizavid It’s two for Tuesday you whiner. Not like it’s something new.

@mbimeh “Something else (comments, please)” wasn’t the catch-all? I thought that was the “I get mine a different way” response.
Why would I have to “press” my coffee? Can’t I just give it a little squeeze?
These make great bike pumps with slight modifications

Come on people, step up your game…;)
The comments section is lacking energy today. If only there was a way to get a stimulant like caffeine … oh wait
French Press requires too much ceremony. Isn’t there sumpthin like a personal k-cup travel mug?
