The Man can't bust your laptop (unless he owns it).

For more and more people, their employer-issued laptop is their main computing squeeze. It makes a certain sense: obviously, laptops cost money, and better your boss spends that money than you do. If you ever work remotely, you probably need to do it through an officially locked-down secure work laptop. Most people will fall into the habit of using that laptop most of the time rather than keep two laptops at the ready. It’s understandable.

And wrong. Your bosses can do whatever they want to that laptop at any time. Take it away. Wipe it clean. Log your every keystroke and every click - and use that knowledge against you. Even if you don’t do anything that wrong, what are the chances you never violate the official company policy on computer use?

Yeah. You need something else. Some other device to handle your personal shit. If you already have one, use it. If you don’t, here you go.

Everything it does is through a browser, through apps, and in the cloud, which is what makes it so cheap. And if you buy it, it’s totally 100% yours. The Man might not care that you binged on Archer when you were on call, or that you got into an ugly political Facebook brawl with your idiot nephew. But it’s still none of The Man’s business.
