The Bots Among Us
Today, for Screenprint Sunday, we’ve got an exciting variable shirt by one of our favorite designers, Robbie Lee! You get to choose between a version wherein the robot tears open his chest to reveal he possesses a heart, or one where all that drives him is our (un)lovable corporate mascot Irk.
But, if I can speak personally for a minute, there’s something that bothers me a bit here.
Sure, it’s fun to portray robots in the same goofy archaic way that they were often shone in science fiction of yore. But honestly, isn’t that a bit disingenuous? It’s 2019, after all; robots are a part of everyday life. In fact, we wanted to take some time and highlight some of the many robots that contribute–or have contributed in the past–important work to society:
- Actress, Naomi Kilowatts
- Radio personality, A.I.-ra Glass
The band, Bötley Crüe - Actor, Robort De Niro
- The band, Rage Against The Simple Machine
- Tennis great, Bjorn Cyborg
- Actor, Richard Gear
- Comedian and actor, Bot Odenkirk
- Playwright, And-Roid Webber
- The entire roster of the Houston Sprockets
- the band, Turing Test Dummies
- Country icon, ProGram Parsons
- and finally, the band, Mechanickleback.
But really those are just a few. I implore you, tell me your favorite famous robots in the comments! Oh, and I was just joking about this bothering me. You should definitely buy a shirt or two.
