Game On
It’s a conundrum: do you sell your Olympic Team USA logo backpack and lapel pin bundle a few weeks before the Olympics, so that people can wear them proudly during the games? Or do you sell them right as the Olympics start, when Olympic fever is at its peak?
We ultimately opted for the latter. After all, you can still use a Team USA backpack (and Team USA lapel pins) after the games have wrapped up.
And speaking of the games, we wanted to highlight some of the exciting new events that will be premiering this year!
List-less grocery shopping: Each participant makes a list of at least twelve groceries they need. These lists are then given to the judges so that, when the time comes, the participants shop blind. Judging is based on speed and the percentage of items on the list obtained.
Freestyle running: Running. It’s so strict. All tracks and lengths and who’s in the lead, who’s bringing up the rear, et cetera. Well, that changes with freestyle running! The athletes simply just sorta run. Wherever they want. In whatever direction. At whatever speed. For however long. The judges award medals to whoever they feel did the best running based on whatever criteria they want.
Talking to adults with toddlers around relay: Each team is comprised of three adults and two toddlers. At the outset of the event, the first adult is given a paper with a single piece of information they must convey to their partners. The first adult attempts to tell this to the second adult while they play with the first toddler. The second adult then passes this along to the third adult while they play with the second toddler. In the preliminary trials, the fastest time to fully convey a one-sentence message from the first adult to the second adult to the third adult was two hours forty-five minutes.
Roller curling: Like roller hockey, but it’s curling. Also, the stones are bowling balls, and not a single person has ever scored a point.
There you have it! Some new events! So get excited for those and grab yourself a Team USA backpack and lapel pin set!
