Saber The Moment

Year after year, new movies and shows come out that capture the imaginations of children (as well as the young at heart). And year after year, said movies and shows bring with them a new wave of toys and games that become the ‘it’ holiday gift.

And yet, one IP stands above the rest: Matlock!

Wait, what? That’s not what the M in ‘MCU’ stands for? Oh, shit! We’ve made a huge mistake!

But there’s another property that also seems to have some staying power: Star Wars. And there’s one item within Star Wars lore that holds particular allure. That’s right, the lightsaber.

And this, friends, is a rad lightsaber.

Like, a seriously rad lightsaber. Emphasis on the serious part. We’re talking an aluminum handle and a polycarbonate blade. In other words, it’s not something you want to give to your toddler. It is, however, simple enough that it won’t intimidate a young Jedi-in-training. (At least, that’s what we learned from Amazon users, where this thing gets a respectable 4.4 out of 5 based on more than 400 ratings.)

Still, it is a toy. So if you’re looking for something that might be a little more enriching, consider buying your little Star Wars fan one of the many books the films have inspired. We’re talking about such great works of literature as:

  • Jed-eye Dick
  • Ren and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
  • The Bell Jar Jar
  • The Phantom Menace Tollbooth
  • Heart of Darthness
  • The Fault in Our Death Stars
  • As I Leia Dying
  • (Sith) Lord of the Flies
  • Maul The Pretty Horses
  • Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy Far Far Away

Wow, those puns are pretty stupid. But these lightsabers? They are not stupid at all. So get one to give as a gift this holiday season.

And if anyone knows someone who’d be interested in a whole bunch of action figures that look like Cathy Bates and Andy Griffith, please reach out.
