Fukubukuro 4: #fukubukuro
- A bag of surprises, some possibly pleasant
- There’s no reason “lucky” has to imply good luck
- Expect nothing, demand nothing, regret nothing
- It’ll take us a little longer to ship these because we’re busy packing up those stupid Built NY things
- Hey whoa our Twitter @WeAreMeh has an actual theme song by actual They Might Be Giants!
Hashtag Fukubukuro
The last time we opened up our super fun lucky mystery bag that we stole from the Japanese, we also unveiled our website theme song by They Might Be Giants. Now, any time we want to hear one of our favorite bands ever, all we have to do is click the Meh logo. Go on. Do it. See? It’s probably the coolest thing about this little virtual lost-and-found bin of ours.
We thought, after that rush, we could go back to the regular old fukubukuro. We thought a surprise package of items ‘n’ things would be enough of a thrill to keep us interested. What fools we were.
So, today, we bring you another mind-expanding, mood-elevating dose of TMBG MDMA. Presenting the intergalactic debut of the world’s very first theme song for a Twitter account, “We Are Meh”, written for @WeAreMeh by They Might Be Giants!
If we insist on shoving our sales links all up in your Twitter grill, the least we could do is midwife some awesomeness into the world. Thus “We Are Meh” is born, dripping and howling into the cold, bright operating room of the Internet! Spank it! Hear it cry!
And while we’re twisting Twitter to our own grubby ends, let’s pimp a hashtag: #fukubukuro. Are you aware that the United States is a distant second, at best, in global #fukubukuro production? We invite recent fukubukuro converts Penny Arcade to join us in popularizing #fukubukuro on America Twitter. Just remember who was here first, freshmeat, or we’ll cut you. We will cut you so bad.
And who are we? “We Are Meh”! Just ask They Might Be Giants! Don’t ask them anything else about us, though. As they freely admit, they don’t really get it.
