RFC Decent way of handling unpredictably high demand product for "real singular people"
0By "real singular people", I mean VMP's. By unpredictably high demand, I mean products where about 25% of the total inventory was sold at a rate in which all the remaining product would be purchased during a short interval, or about first hour of a sale that should be lasting 24 hours. For half of the remaining time, all "real singular people" may submit a ticket to commit on purchasing said unpredictably high demand product if it is available. At the end of said time frame, all committed "real singular people" are sorted randomly, with the products being sold to everyone there is available inventory for, with the remaining participants not getting a product. If for some strange reason there is more inventory, sales may resume as though it is no longer an unpredictably high demand product.

@smartr for the longest time i thought i was just hearing that line wrong and i tried so hard to listen real good and figure out what he was really saying.
I have an idea. How about the last 10% of inventory be VMP exclusive.
@phatmass I suppose my thought is not to exclude non-VMP's, but non-"real singular people". That is to say, there should be a strong mechanism to discourage a person acting as 10 people.
@smartr What do you have against people with Dissociative identity disorder?
Pay attention
This sounds harder than setting up a site and putting something out for sale and hoping it sells out.
