Cobra 800W Power Inverter (Refurbished)

  • Get two AC outlets with 800W of continuous power, 1600W peak out of a DC source (in other words, a car or boat battery)
  • Use the included cable to hook it up to the posts on a car battery, you can handle that
  • Way more power than a cigarette lighter: enough for a laptop, 13" TV, mini-fridge, circular saw, etc. (but not all at the same time)
  • It’s frustratingly impossible to say exactly how long you should run it off of a car battery, but recharge the car battery after an hour or two
  • Model: CPI880 (CPI for Cobra Power Inverter, sensibly enough - it’s mildly confusing as to why an 800W inverter has the number 880, but that’s a minor blemish for this otherwise straightforward, no-BS model number)

Not for everyone. Just almost everyone.

Stop reading if you hit the road for weeks at a time every summer to live out of your car, van, or RV. You’ve already solved the problem this Cobra Power Inverter solves: running AC appliances off of your DC vehicle batteries. There’s nothing for you here.

Stop reading if you’re one of those “King of the Tailgaters” types. You’ve probably already set up an array of batteries and inverters to run everything from an Xbox to an electric stove. To you, this Cobra Power Inverter is small potatoes.

Stop reading if a cigarette-lighter phone charger is all the DC-to-AC power you ever need. If you can’t envision a circumstance where you might need to run anything bigger than a phone off of your car battery, if you’re always surrounded by civilization with its many AC outlets, you won’t need this.

If you’re still reading, buy this.

It’s easy to connect to the posts on a car battery. Its 800W are enough to run stuff from phones, tablets, and laptops up to small mini-fridges, coffee makers, and power tools. Keep it in the garage or stow it in your car.

Then you’re ready for power outages, car camping, and - in a pinch - to ascend to the tailgating throne. Just make sure you get something bigger before the next game.
