Braven BRV-1M Ultra-Rugged IPX7 Bluetooth Speaker
- A Bluetooth speaker that you can tell is rugged because look at it
- Its big ol’ 2200mAh battery doubles as a powerbank for your phone
- The “crush-resistant” frame and IPX7 certified waterproof housing can withstand your wildest weekend crushing parties
- Includes a GoPro-compatible mount for, presumably, attaching it to your bike
- Model: BRV1-M (It’s clean, concise, and owns search results, but it shouldn’t be confused with its little brother, BRV1-S)
The Whys of March
Hear that? It’s the march of technological progress, played through this rugged Braven Bluetooth speaker.
Last March we sold a similar Braven speaker for the same price. But this one’s better in every way — it’s got a better battery (2200mAh vs. 1400mAh), better waterproofing (IPX7 vs. IPX5), more rugged constuction, and a GoPro-compatible “action mount” to attach it to your bike handlebars … or something.
And that’s what the march of technology does: it improves products, lowers their cost, and adds weird features that almost nobody will use.
Take Google’s Pixel 2. It’s got a better camera and faster processor. It costs about the same as its predecessor. And it has “Google Lens,” a feature that lets you take a picture of a famous landmark and, basically, read the Wikipedia page about it.
Thump, thump thump.
Technology marches relentlessly forward, with some sidetracks into superfluous nonsense features. That doesn’t mean some weirdos aren’t going to use those features. Someone somewhere is presumably using Apple’s new Animoji. And some of you are bunny-hopping up and down at the opportunity to mount this speaker to your BMX. But the rest of us will focus on the useful features and ignore the unnecessary razzle-dazzle.
Who knows what the next year of Braven Bluetooth speakers will bring. Longer battery life and better overall quality at the same or lower price, no doubt, but what else? Integration with your Hot Air Balloon’s smart entertainment system? Integrated UV flashlight/cannabis grow light? AR functionality to make the speaker appear like a warthog on your camera’s phone? Who knows.
Thump, thump thump.
