Looks like it’s for people with an active lifestyle. I’d prefer something for use while sitting on the couch scarfing down a bag of chips. Perhaps something built into a fidget spinner.
HEY MAN! (and MAMS). WHAT IS THIS WHISPER FEATURE ALL ABOUT? HOW DO i ACCESS IT?
ALL I’VE GOT SO FAR WERE 2 RESTRAINING ORDERS FROM MR. MEH.
Oh yeah, buy this speaker, it’s great.
Yeah see if Russel Stover has extra chocolate bunnies you can buy. I used to live by one of their outlet store. Spent too much money in there. Now I miss it.
@2many2no@fastharry But fakespot just rates the veracity of reviews. Just because the reviews are fake doesn’t necessarily mean the speaker sounds like shit, does it? Or does it?
@2many2no I can confirm that, in fact, it does sound quite good. I’m no audiophile or anything but I am adverse to crappy sound. That said, I bought the 1s with my own money and I am pleased enough with the sound of the 1s that I just bought the 1M. Is it 88 dollars worth of good sound? Maybe, maybe not. Is it 29 dollars worth of good sound? I think it’s safe to say yes.
@2many2no Everything you need to know about Meh. and its customers can be gleaned from that fact that the list of ways it is “better in every way” does not include sound quality.
10 watts is decent however I have approx 10 speakers I bought from meh in the last 3 years so I have to pass.Done collecting speakers to sit on the shelf, however, seems like a very good deal.
Im going to ask a dumb question: as a (loud)drummer could this work as a cheap “loud enough” speaker to overcome the attack of a full kit? I have gopro(s) attached to my walls and ceilings, but I would also like an inexpensive alternative to a PA (or headphones).
@Alderuen As a drummer my guess is no, 10 watts is not going to be enough to hear above your drums. Unless you hang the speaker(s) right next to your ear(s).
@Alderuen For a (loud) drummer, not a chance in hell. Drivers are too small, power is insufficient. If you were using brushes exclusively, then, maaayybe, but still, probably not. You’d be too loud even with bundles sticks, I’d guess.
You don’t say if you’re intent is music playback or vocals, but I think neither would work.
@chowland There’s a cover on the back to seal the charging port and wired ports. If you’re using it via Bluetooth, you can seal that up and voila - it’s IPX7-rated!
I have one of these that I got in a basket from a charity auction. I thought it was going to be a throw-away item, but I really like it. Good battery life. Good sound quality. Connects via Bluetooth to your smartphone. I use it a lot for background music or podcasts while doing chores or hosting tame/lame social gatherings.
The cool thing about the product last year was that you could pair two of them to play simultaneously. I bought one, thinking I could scoop up another when Meh eventually circles back and sells them again.
So unless this one pairs with the old one, the relentless march of technology is a parade of regret.
IPX7 is not necessarily better than IPX5.
“The ratings for water ingress are not cumulative beyond IPX6. A device which is compliant with IPX7, covering immersion in water, need not be compliant with IPX5 or IPX6, covering exposure to water jets. A device which meets both tests is indicated by listing both tests separated by a slash, e.g. IPX5/IPX7”
This is my 3rd Bluetooth speaker. I’ve purchased all of them at a discount & none have cost me over $25.00. This one appears to very well built & has more features than the others (charges via a common phone charger, water resistant, has a battery indicator…) but even after playing with all of my phone’s “Sound Quality” settings, it’s just not loud enough & NO bass.
Having the GoPro mount, I planned on putting in on my son’s bicycle, but it’s not loud enough to use outside on a moving bike. I ended up mounting it under a shelf in our small bathroom. It’s loud enough for use in there, but still not enough bass.
I’ve got my money’s worth from Meh, so I’m not too worried about it, but if your’e considering buying one of these… pass.
My expectation was not high for this bluetooth speaker. I have been pleasantly surprised with the ease of setup/use. I planned to use it at the farm on our side by side and it far exceeded my expectation. Is it comparable to my Bose soundlink Revolve +, yes and no but I could have bought 13 of these for what the Soundlink cost. I would highly recommend this speaker. Yes it has very little bass but isn’t bad for what it is. If you want bass spend the money and buy the Bose. Good on you…
Got this for use at a swimming pool. Works surprisingly well. Can get very loud. I don’t need bass as I listen to youtubers and other stuff, or light and atmospheric spa music. No bass needed.
It’s a decent speaker and it works very well. Slight manufacturer’s defect: the housing around the usb port. It’s merely cosmetic.
Overall I am happy with this purchase.

@Stallion
@Stallion Just got my first Oontz last week. No regrets.
Here’s reality - another speaker
@AttyVette yeah, but it’s a Braven!
Way to kick off a new month old school, Meh.
/giphy old school
@shahnm This giphy has nothing to do with anything, but how could I possibly change it?? I’ll just deal with it…
@shahnm But it’s not a speaker dock or a knife?
This deal speaks to me.
@yakkoTDI You are very braven for posting this.
Looks like it’s for people with an active lifestyle. I’d prefer something for use while sitting on the couch scarfing down a bag of chips. Perhaps something built into a fidget spinner.
@lichme Fidget spinners are way to much exercise for me.
@lichme thinking about hanging it in my shower.
@lichme But wait! Just for you, it has a passive radiator: Twin, full-range drivers and a passive radiator.
Grab a can of Bud Lite and your chips and scarf away. (It has an IPX7 beerproof rating too.)
Sounds so much better than “plastic and aluminum”.
@awk Or, to be accurate and descriptive: “made like pretty much all typical crappy electronics”…
I’m ultra tired. Goodnight.
$106 for a 5W speaker? Who would pay that?
@rmeden Its 10w
@rmeden Ten watts. It’s five watts per speaker.
@rmeden Does that mean something important?
@SynMonger even 10 watts… won’t work well outside… too quiet.
Ummmm…Fakespot gives it a decided F.
Yes! Bluetooth speaker time!!! That’s the meh we’ve come to know and …well, kind of like.
@eeterrific Or regard with passing disinterest, anyway…
HEY MAN! (and MAMS). WHAT IS THIS WHISPER FEATURE ALL ABOUT? HOW DO i ACCESS IT?
ALL I’VE GOT SO FAR WERE 2 RESTRAINING ORDERS FROM MR. MEH.
Oh yeah, buy this speaker, it’s great.
@wew I apologize. I thought that would be funnier. (some jokes work, some don’t I’d delete it if I could.
Sorry guiz.
Can I throw this in a pool like the golden egg from goblet of Fire?
@vinuash Yes. But why?
@shahnm I need to use it to decipher the clue
March was declared a Bluetooth-free month!
Respect the Hallmark holidays, read a book!
Bring back candy corn and peeps before it’s too late to arrive before Easter. A large milk chocolate bunny would be good too?
Yeah see if Russel Stover has extra chocolate bunnies you can buy. I used to live by one of their outlet store. Spent too much money in there. Now I miss it.
According to the pictures this speaker does not work for the lifestyle of people who don’t enjoy wearing sleeves.
Even the all black model is $88.
Why is this so expensive?
Does it actually sound that good?
@2many2no not according to fakespot…https://www.fakespot.com/product/braven-brv-1m-portable-wireless-bluetooth-speaker-12-hours-waterproof-built-in-2200-mah-power-bank-charger-black-black
@2many2no @fastharry But fakespot just rates the veracity of reviews. Just because the reviews are fake doesn’t necessarily mean the speaker sounds like shit, does it? Or does it?
@2many2no @fastharry @MuddyG Fakespot does not necessarily mean crappy, but it implies it.
I’ve got a Qi phone charger that works great in spite of the poor Fakespot rating an several one star reviews.
What Fakespot tells me is that the five star reviews aren’t reliable. It’s pretty easy to ignore the ones with the subject “5 STARS”, anyway.
That said, if I hadn’t already bought this thing before they started buying fake ads, I probably wouldn’t have gotten it.
@2many2no I can confirm that, in fact, it does sound quite good. I’m no audiophile or anything but I am adverse to crappy sound. @mellowirishgent Your use of punctuation and spacing makes me feel more drunk than I actually am.
@mellowirishgent Do you ever turn them all on at once for 100 watts of speaker power?
/giphy radical-sad-opinion
Just what I always wanted, an underwater Bluetooth speaker. Does Bluetooth work underwater?
Im going to ask a dumb question: as a (loud)drummer could this work as a cheap “loud enough” speaker to overcome the attack of a full kit? I have gopro(s) attached to my walls and ceilings, but I would also like an inexpensive alternative to a PA (or headphones).

Braven is my preferred Bluetooth speaker brand.
Very rugged, been using them for years
…and now for something completely different… not really, it’s a Bluetooth speaker
Oh, btw, sorry Monty Python’s Flying Circus.
This item absolutely resists me getting a crush on it.
/giphy amethyst-malignant-salamander
What can I say? I’m Braven nuff.
Twin speakers…no mention of Stereo?..uh, no.
I thought these speakers were Friday deals only. It’s been a while…then again, I think back in the day it was just speaker docks…
Crap…I bought one.
so, is it only IPX7 water proof when the covers are closed?
@chowland There’s a cover on the back to seal the charging port and wired ports. If you’re using it via Bluetooth, you can seal that up and voila - it’s IPX7-rated!
I’m just gunna point this out. Who kayaks in a hoodie and khakis?
@jessieraver90 people in Alaska??
What about sound quality ? The last speaker I bought was so bad I couldn’t make out the jokes on No Such Thing as a Fish.
/giphy okay-brilliant-powder
Where is the connector for an iPhone 4?
I have one of these that I got in a basket from a charity auction. I thought it was going to be a throw-away item, but I really like it. Good battery life. Good sound quality. Connects via Bluetooth to your smartphone. I use it a lot for background music or podcasts while doing chores or hosting tame/lame social gatherings.
It looks like a VR headset, and the survey today is about AR. So I’m like, why are they talking about bluetooth?
F it, I don’t need it, but I can’t find any of the other crappy speakers I’ve bought from Meh over the years…
/buy
@fuzzmanmatt It worked! Your order number is: victorious-rigid-spice

@mediocrebot Rigid Spice? Sounds like scary spice wasn’t scary enough!

“Its big ol’ 2200mAh battery doubles as a powerbank for your phone.” More like vice versa…

Useless features my butt. I’m buying two and mounting them to my jet skis. Kenny Powers would be jealous.

There might be $5 worth of bolts and screws in this thing.
Rugged? I don’t know… my parties really crush it, I mean really, really crush…it.
I am gonna mount this to the my car grille just like people add steer horns or Christmas wreaths. Then I’m gonna crank it to 11 and share my joy.
Showering is about to get a whole lot better now that I can have a conference call with my coworkers at the same time

It arrived yesterday…way better than I expected for the $. Easy setup and “BONUS” mine came pre-charged!
Nice sound for it’s size and cost.
Anyone attach the strap yet? Not sure how it goes,photo ?
