The Fool's Errand: an April Meh-rathon
“But where did you get a fresh rose this time of year?” Bob said.
“The wife and I have been doing a bit of an experiment,” Gil said. “We’ve blacked out the windows in the spare bedroom, and built it up with heat lamps and hydroponic lights and whatnot. It’s basically a false summer in there. Of course, it’s more complicated than that. I just do what the missus says. She’s the botanist, after all.”
“Amazing!” Bob said.
“Yeah, it involves the development of some proprietary soil,” Gil went on. “Originally, if we could sell it, it was going to pay for a vacation. But with all this stuff going on, it might have to pay for a new fridge, assuming they recall all the Dodsons. Did you hear about that?”
