Power Up
What we have here is a big ol’ charging station. In the front, you’ve got two USB-C ports and two USB-A (aka old USB) ports. In the back, there are three outlets. In other words, you plug this thing in and effectively turn one outlet into seven. That’s a net gain of six outlets!
Pretty simple, right? So what are we going to fill this space with? A quick discussion of planning ahead and taking the long view.
You see, by being organized and planning effectively, you can do a lot of great things. It’s how your favorite basketball team ends up with a balanced roster, capable of playing a variety of different ways, rather than a mishmash of randos whose talents don’t complement each other. And it’s how you ensure a potluck provides all those who attend with an exciting array of delicious food, rather than a spread of seven different store-brand bags of potato chips.
It’s also how you avoid professional embarrassments such as spending an entire Meh write-up one day mocking some poor Amazon user who complained because their new razor didn’t come with a charging block before turning around the next day and having to sell an item that is essentially a super-sized charging block, thus necessitating copy that more or less validates that user’s gripe.
(To be fair to me, in order to know what we were selling the day after the razor, I would have had to go through a whole big process of looking down one cell on a spreadsheet, so who’s to say who’s really at fault here.)
And so, let us offer this quasi mea culpa: maybe we were a little harsh on that person yesterday. Maybe they’re right to be upset with how few items there are these days that plug directly into the wall rather than into another thing that then plugs into the wall. And maybe websites that offer modestly priced solutions to these issues should thus be celebrated as the heroes they are.
Or maybe not.
Whatever.
Anyway, buy this big ol’ charging station, set it up on your desk or on the kitchen counter or in the corner of your bedroom, and never have to go searching for a charging block or free outlet again.
