Quite Spicy
Perusing the Amazon reviews for these ramens, we’ve come to understand two things:
- They are very good. The Quattro Cheese Hot Chicken flavor earns a 4.6 out of 5 based on 27 reviews, whereas the Carbo Spicy Chicken Fried Noodle cups get 4.5 out of 5 based on a far more robust 1,066 reviews.
- They are pretty spicy. Not as spicy as the traditional Buldak or 2X varieties since all of ours have cheese in them to tone it down, but they definitely have a kick!
To help you decide, let’s turn to the depths of internet where it’s apparent this brand has quite a following!
Reddit user TheBeatlesPkmnFan42 says:
I definitely find the carbonara to be cheesier/less spicy than the cheese flavor. The cheese one to me is very similar to the original flavor with a hint of cheese, making it slightly less spicy than the original. But the carbonara I find to be more significantly less spicy and also more cheesy. Cream carbo is even further more cheesy and a little less spicy than the regular carbo. And Quattro cheese is comparable to cream carbo in its level of cheesiness and spice, but with a bit different flavor due to using different cheeses. I feel like the basic “cheese” flavor is the least cheesy of the cheesy Buldaks.
Reddit user doubleshotofespresso gives the world his ranking of every Buldak Flavor. Here’s what he had to say about the Quattro Cheese:
Quattro Cheese - Excellent iteration on the cheese version. As you will see lower on the list, cheese flavor is not one of my favorites as I would generally prefer original or 2x and add my own cheese. Samyang’s quattro cheese amps it up and the 4 real cheeses make it taste like the cheese flavor we deserved all along. Nuanced and wonderful.
There’s also this site called Sporked. You see… it’s where tastes are tested. And they decided to rank every flavor of Buldak noodles for your deciding delight:
Cheese “…is good, but it definitely is not the best cheese-based Buldak flavor. 7.5 out of 10”
Quattro Cheese “… is delicious and definitely cheesier than the cheese flavor. It’s like Kraft mac and cheese mixed with Buldak noodles. 8 out of 10”
Carbonara “… was too good to let any go to waste. The cheesiness is prominent and pairs perfectly with the spicy sauce. These noodles are, hands down, the best Buldak ramen noodles you can buy. 10 out of 10”
So, in conclusion: these are all spicy, though you can choose the cheesier varieties that will tame the spice down a notch. Oh, also, if there is one complaint throughout the reviews we read, it’s that these are a little pricey. But, you know, the price is a little different over here, so… BUY SOME SPICY-ASS NOODLES!
