Sit Better
Recently, I had a bit of back trouble.
I’d love to pretend that it involved some really cool Fall Guy-style stunt, but alas, it did not. Unless you consider being in one’s late thirties and devoting no energy (or thought) to core strength. Luckily, I was able to find a great physical therapist who taught me an array of valuable stretches and exercises for building strength and alleviating pain.
And what I learned from these stretches is how connected everything is. You don’t just do a few cat-cows and call it a day. No way. You gotta engage your core, stretch your legs, do some squats, and perform a whole bunch of other actions that feel almost entirely unrelated to your back.
Moreover, you need to maintain good posture while you’re sitting. And this cushion can help with that. It doesn’t just provide lumbar support and relieve tailbone and posterior discomfort; it promotes a better sitting position.
Now we know some of you are already gearing up to go ballistic in the comments, so we’ll say it first: the actual best posture to maintain is… not sitting. It’s terrible for you. And if you can, you should invest in a good standing desk, so that your back remains engaged and healthy at all times, instead of slumped over and ragged.
Also, no carbs. Also, less salt. Also, no alcohol. Also, get to bed at a decent time, and ensure you sleep for eight hours, no more, no less. Limit caffeine. No cream, no sugar in your coffee. Two cups a day max. Otherwise, water and an occasional glass of fruit juice, nothing else.
My point is, health is relative. No, this cushion might not be as good for you as a standing desk, but also, let’s face it: you’re probably never going to stand for eight hours straight. So, when you do inevitably sit down, having something good and comfortable that also promotes strong posture ain’t so bad.
Furthermore, you can use it in the car, and last we checked, they don’t make standing cars… yet!
So get one of these, and enjoy comfort and good health.
