From Some Laundering Required (Ms. Theroux mysteries, #18):
“You’re the new maid?” said Mr. Hilton. “You’re the one they claim is the best cleaner in the area? And you look like… that?”
“Yes, sir,” Ms. Theroux stuttered. “I apologize for my appearance. You see, I had brought a mug of coffee with me to go, but the cupholder in my auto is simply not the correct size and–”
She’d made it that far when the man collapsed dead. She would’ve imagined it to be shock at her appearance had there not been a note in the pocket of his cardigan. It read, simply: ‘Victim #4.’
