Cheap. And well-thought-out. But mostly cheap.

You know how annoying it is when a surge protector, AC-to-USB adapter, etc. is badly designed? Like, when it blocks the other outlet in the wall fixture. Or when you can’t plug in more than one kind of cable at a time. Super aggravating, right? But not these. They’re pretty well-designed.

Also, they’re really cheap.

This Amazon review pretty much nails why the design works. The entire adapter unit can be plugged into the bottom outlet in a vertical two-outlet fixture, without blocking the upper outlet. If only most adapters were so thoughtful.

Not to mention super cheap.

What’s more, the two USB ports are well out of the way of the protected AC outlet. So you can have a pretty big transformer plugged into the surge protector without interfering with access to the USB ports. Again, solid thinking behind that layout.

And it’s crazy cheap.

If there’s a drawback, it’s that both USB ports are only 1 amp. So they’ll charge more slowly than 2.1 amp USB ports will. But that’s not a fatal flaw, considering that, as we said, the pair of these are…

Ridiculously cheap.
