What's What?

January is a time of resolutions, many of which revolve around health and diet. That’s why we’re selling this now. It’s an oil that you can take on its own or add to stuff to energize yourself and maybe curb your appetite, even if you’re on the Keto diet. That’s the short answer.

The long answer?

For that we’ll take it one thing at a time. So strap in, this is a bit of a doozy.

What is Slimfast?

SlimFast is a manufacturer best known for their line of meal-replacement drinks that you likely saw as a kid and thought, “Grown-ups get to drink friggin’ milkshakes and it’s healthy? Being an adult is going to be so rad!” At least, that’s what I thought. SlimFast might not be the same powerhouse it was in the 90s, but the thing you learn when you write for a deal site is that most brands don’t die; they just fall out of the spotlight and then spend all of eternity trying to claw their way back in by embracing recent trends, such as the Keto diet. Which leads us naturally into:

What is the Keto Diet?

Here are the basics from Healthline:

The ketogenic diet is a very low carb, high fat diet that shares many similarities with the Atkins and low carb diets. It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat. This reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. When this happens, your body becomes incredibly efficient at burning fat for energy. It also turns fat into ketones in the liver, which can supply energy for the brain.

All scientific and good, but in my experience trying various diets (paleo, keto, intermittent fasting, etc.), the main benefit is having to think about what (or when) you eat. That added step of having to ask, “Can I eat these chips?” is often enough to make you sigh and say, “I probably don’t need to eat these chips.” But this stuff we’re selling isn’t chips. It’s MCT oil. And so:

What is MCT oil?

For this we’ll turn to every hypochondriac’s favorite online doctor WebMD:

MCT oil is a supplement made from a type of fat called medium-chain triglycerides. MCT molecules are smaller than those in most of the fats you eat (long-chain triglycerides [LCT]). This makes them easier to digest. You can absorb MCT in your bloodstream quickly. This turns it into energy you can use.

In other words, it’ll get you amped for that workout, but can also be used for inflammation, appetite control, and a variety of other things. Of course, that leaves one big question:

What’s the taste?

This one’s easy: nothing. And according to Amazon users who give this a 4.4 out of 5 based on 485 ratings, that’s great. Just scroll the reviews, and you’ll see a bunch of people commenting about how its absolute flavorlessness allows them to add it to whatever they want without any nasty aftertaste.

Okay, that’s all we’ve got. Hopefully this is helpful, but of course, with all diet and health products, it’s really about what’s right for you. So be sure to do a bit of reading. And if you have experiences, positive or negative, with this product (or one like it) definitely hop in the comments and let others know.
