No, no it bothers you exactly the right amount I think. I tracked down an addon for firefox a few months back specifically to stop those stupid autoplay channel intro videos.
@beachbum If you don't want any Flash video auto-playing, you can go to the Add-Ons menu and switch Flash to "Ask to Activate"- that way every time something tries to load Flash, you'll get a little bar at the top asking if you want to keep blocking Flash or not.
@dashcloud@beachbum I forget if Chrome does this by default or not, but it's possible w/o any extensions in Chrome as well. Under Settings – Advanced Settings – Privacy (rather telling that Google considers controlling one's Privacy to be 'Advanced') – Content Settings – Plugins.
What really bothers me is when I have to sit through an un-skippable commercial to view a product video. I have to watch a commercial before the commercial I elected to watch.
Tangentially related to the Rom-Com point: I was making small talk with a new co-worker and asked her how she met her husband. She said he was visiting with a youth group from a church in Miami to her church in Puerto Rico. He kept trying to talk to her but she was not interested at all. "No, go away, you're weird, don't talk to me." I suspect she was also way out of his league; she'd be out of most guys' leagues in terms of attractiveness. His last night in Puerto Rico the youth groups went out bowling. She went to the bathroom and when she came out he walked up to her and kissed her. She was shocked, and was even more shocked when she realized she was kissing him back. She asked him what he was doing, and he said he was leaving the next day so he just had to take a shot with his last chance. They've been married a couple years now and when I left she was pregnant, might've had the kid by now. I still can't believe it turned out that way; my expectation would be the guy getting a slap at the very least, if not some sort of legal action or restraining order.
It's clear somebody needs to spend less time browsing youtube and more time making daily videos.

@nogoodwithnames Please share.
@beachbum Searching... Searching... I really should clean out some of these old addons... Ahh, here we are:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/flashstopper/
It tries to stop any autoplay video although occasionally some will get through. Still, better than nothing.
@nogoodwithnames You are a sweetheart for finding that for me. Thank you!!

@brhfl @dashcloud Thank you both for sharing!

This is but one reason why I like Vimeo. YT is a vast wasteland, filled with excrement and the occasional kernel of corn perched on top.
(Thanks Mr. McCluhan)
I've never seen that, but I do hate auto-playing videos.
The weird thing is, news sites seem to be the worst offenders, and you'd think they'd have the traffic + feedback to tell them to stop.
@darksaber99999 But they almost always have ads playing before their videos, so that way they can bill for a more expensive video ad.
So it's agreed that this video is the new YouTube Channel Trailer for Mediocre, right?
I use firefox and just the adblock + add on stops the commercials from playing.
