Only saw “Field of Dreams” because it’s connected to my state and has the guy from “The Postman” (which I love). Haven’t even heard about the others. Who the hell cares about baseball anyway? Like American football, it’s just a bastardized version for pansies of an honourable European sport.
Sandlot was overwatched in my childhood, so I have to go with The Perfect Game with Kevin Costner. That guy was pretty much at his peak in baseball movies.
@simplersimon ugh, I always get the name of that one wrong. I was thinking of For Love of the Game. Had a vhs recording of it that was mislabeled (thanks Dad) and never remember the right name.
@sammydog01 Darn, I was hoping for a good movie to watch. Also, thanks to your comment I suddenly realize how similar Tin Cup and Happy Gilmore are in their basic premise, though Tin Cup is far better.
If you like baseball, you owe it to yourself to see “When It Was a Game”. It is a documentary composed entirely of 8mm and 16mm home movie footage taken by players and fans between 1934 and 1957. As a result, there is color film of people you never have see in color before (Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Connie Mack) and of course long defunct parks.
The only poll choices should have been: The Sandlot, Field of Dreams, Bad News Bears, I don’t like baseball movies, and I like baseball movies but I am a weirdo.
You’re killing me, Smalls!
@emt305

Never saw League of Their Own, but big believer in no crying.
I meant sandlot! That’s embarrassing.
Damn Yankees!

The Warriors (1979)
That was a hard one, loved most of the movies listed.
@trisk YES!

Which Bad News Bears is it in the poll? Matthau or Thornton?

How is baseball still a thing.
@DrunkCat
@mfladd So it’s basically nascar?
I didn’t see Trouble with the Curve, or It Happens Every Spring on the poll list.
Brewster’s Millions. Still one of my all time favorite movies.
@hayfranco None of the above!
JAAAAAaaaaahst a bit outside.
That was a strike and you know it!
The Natural is a great movie, the musical score is phenomenal.
Mr. Baseball:
is this heaven? no, it’s iowa.
Its probably a tie between Bull Durham and Major League, and The Natural. When the three of them are on I stop everything and just enjoy.
