Isn’t this basically 3 items, one with 2 color options? I thought this was supposed to be a single deal a day site. Now I’m just too confused to process it all… I need a scotch
Bose eq is too flat, Beats eq is too bassy, Sony eq is treble and bass up and mid is non-existent. So if you would combine all three you may actually get some decent quality sound. Meh all around.
Just remember, these are being offered here at a lower price than they will be shortly on a MorningSave.com or SideDeal.com deal. My guess is a SideDeal deal because they can tie it in with TV advertising.
@mike808 The Sony’s are slightly cheaper on Morningsave with VMP. The Bose were cheaper with VMP but they’re no longer showing on Morningsave. I just ordered a pair for a friend a few days ago. They were $179.10 after VMP.
@cinoclav@mike808 thanks. I was on the fence about the Sonys, but knowing that they’re usually even cheaper on a daily basis makes me more confident I can find a better set for myself for around the same money
@cinoclav@mike808 I bought a pair of Bose for slightly more during a Mehrathon (for my son) and a pair for slightly less on SideDeal (for me). Have never had noise cancelling headphones before. Was mowing lawn, could barely hear mower. So they work? Pairing was easy.
I have this Sony model of headphones and really like them. The noise canceling is not as good as the similar but more expensive Sony models or either of the other headphones for sale.
But, for me that’s a good thing. I sometimes find noise canceling headphones fatiguing - the noise to cancel out other external noise can become grating, leave weird phantom noise after taking them off and can give me a headache. The noise canceling on these Sonys is far less aggressive and overall less fatiguing, but they still help block out distractions.
Regarding eq balance, what sounds best is obviously subjective, however if you’re using them with a phone the headphones app has a lot of eq adjustment. Regardless of how they’re adjusted they don’t have the bass of the beats.
@frozenokie I like how my Bose have adjustable levels for the noise cancellation. Though I do tend to leave them at ‘I don’t want to hear the world’ level.
I would love to upgrade from the second hand Bose headphones I’ve got to the wireless model (esp because my most frequent use for them in this WFH era is blocking out my sister’s snoring when I visit her and the cord presents an issue), but not for $189.
@Novium258 I mostly have always bought cheap headphones because I’m not an audiophile and they always seem to break anyway. Several years ago I bought similar Bose headphones and I can say that the number of hours I’ve put on them have made them worth the price.
I have had the Sony ones (got at Best Buy) for a few years and have been really happy with them. I would say the EQ is pretty balanced but you can always tweak in the app.
Has anyone dropped the Sony headphones from 6 feet up? I’ve broken two of the Sony MDRXB950B1 from a drop onto a floor. The sony’s here look like they have the same hinge and would break the same way.
@bakav2 Yeah, I had the same thing happen. 6 foot drop and they both sheared right off on the joint. I glued them back together and they work fine, but the joint had to be immobilized in the process.
Dont listen to the haters on the Beats. I have so many headphones (including the AirPods Max), and the Beats Solo Pro are amazing. I find it hard to pick between the Max and the Pro even.
I bought a few Carlos Santana Active noise canceling headsets / wireless with Bluetooth. Paid $25.00 each here. My BF Loves his, and as he likes nice things, he says they are good. IDK, maybe he is trying not to hurt my feelings by saying anything bad, but he wears his when he does his Huge Yard on a riding tractor. Anyway, the price on CS site was well over $100.00. For $25.00 I believe we certainly got our money’s worth. Passing on these. Way too high.
My dad recently asked for a pair of over-the-ear headphones that would fit over his behind-the-ear hearing aids. Will the Sony ones work for him? I like that it has a microphone in it so he can pair them with his phone as well as his tv.
For me, it was the Bose QC35 ii vs the Sony 1000xm2. I went Sony and love them, but I would appreciate the larger ear cups of the Bose as the Sony don’t fully cover your ears. I bought the 1000xm2 a couple years back at around this price.
I love my Bose headphones for air travel. It makes a huge difference in blocking out engine drone. Unfortunately, they have sat mostly unused since last march, but I’ll be looking forward to traveling again as things pick up.

I think I am going to cancel out buying as much as I’d sure like to buy. Too
noisyrich for my blood.Something’s seriously wrong with meh though. Three products all more than 4 stars.
I loaded up the dryer with a fresh load and forgot to start it. I never would have noticed had I not stopped to click my meh face today.

That’s a lot of money for headphones that cancel out my kind of music, which I don’t call “smart”.

@katsuronishi No highs, no lows, must be Bose
Even eBay has brand new for much cheaper
@djklup Aren’t these all new?

Re: Mowing lawn
Either the noise cancellation works, or somebody switched out his gas-powered mower for an electric one.
@Seeds I have the Bose QC 1’s. Love them. I’ve used other noise canceling headphones but these are still my favorite.
High-end meh today.

A meh-nage a trois, as my grandpa would say
@mexicantacos well done
Husband has wanted some for a while so people will leave him alone in the office.

I would not spend this much unless I could listen to them first.

Sony’s on Sidedeal.

@Mandamm
So you’re saying you’d prefer stroop wafels at the moment?
@cinoclav I WANT MORE STROOP-WAFFLES!
An hour ago I searched, hoped to find one over-looked box. I ate ALL of them. I need them…
D… Dad?
@Selerik probably not, though…
My dad recently asked for a pair of over-the-ear headphones that would fit over his behind-the-ear hearing aids. Will the Sony ones work for him? I like that it has a microphone in it so he can pair them with his phone as well as his tv.
The Bose are $5 cheaper renewed on Amazon

@EmberFox I’d gladly pay $5 more for these new.
