@Salanth yes good memories. Parents were Swiss-German and Croatian so traditions were merged but Christmas Eve was the most festive event. As a child best part was I could open some presents, but save some till next morning.
But now both parents gone so now just time with friends or in-laws but none of them are into much holiday festivity.
@Pavlov The contract you signed, that is the one you agreed to when you paid you money for the Ticket are pretty much Iron Clad, nearly 80-90% in favor of the Airline, sadly. But the good news Trade groups are getting more &more rights back for us the Consumer. Of course the airlines don’t like it but there’s nothing they can do about it. I’m sorry for your experience.
Sadly with only a couple Aunts left, both in Nursing facilities in different states, plus now that both of my parents have gone home, it is just me. My sister well disowns me as her kids. I have not seen/ Heard from them since mom‘s funeral. It’s for the best.
The only traveling I might do is local to friends homes. My True family! They are not blood, they are closer. The Big clan (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) it died during Covid, attendance was getting quite small as the families of all the Cousins are growing many generations so they are busy, too busy for old traditions. At the height of the clan Christmas, we might have 50, 75, 100+ it evolved into a potluck & thief game/ Dirty Santa.
Flying out Christmas Day to St Lucia for a couple of days before we take an Island Windjammer (small sailboat) Cruise to visit coastal St Lucia and Martinique for a week. We will then go back to Martinique to spend a few more days on the island before spending a week in Guadeloupe.
We will be gone about 3 weeks all together. Looking forward to starting out the new year knocking the rust off my French.
Not sure about Thanksgiving yet. May go to the mother-in-law’s, or may opt to go ahead and work to give some of the people in the ER some time off.
Veterans Day weekend will be spent in Pittsburgh with our son
I think so.
Just across town.
Absolutely not.
Depends. Do the liquor stores deliver?
Yes. Only time we didn’t was Covid. Luckily our families are decently close to each other and one does the German Christmas Eve thing.

@Salanth Is “the German Christmas Eve” thing watching Dinner For One?
Last February I took an airline to court over some missing luggage from a flight I took on Christmas Day.
I lost my case.
@Pavlov
