“Ah, scent-less air, just like everywhere else for my whole life”. (I have no sense of smell, which has very little impact on my life since I can still taste things fine. Strangely, I really like garlic bread despite being unable to smell it.)
Yeah, this poll stems from the very reason I no longer have cats. Couldn’t take the constant smell in the home as soon as the door opened. Just like kids, they’re better when they’re someone else’s
@DocJRoberts Similarly, the girlfriend of my buddy kept two ferrets. They usually just let them run free in the (carpeted) house. The scent was shocking when you walked in the door. I guess they must have gotten used to it and didn’t smell it anymore.
@DocJRoberts@macromeh Ferrets have a natural weird body odor - my sister used to have them. A healthy cat smells nice - the top of its head smells kind of like beeswax. If a cat smells bad it’s probably ill or having trouble with its hygiene.
@macromeh that is absolutely true. I had a childhood friend who had a pair with tubes running along the baseboards of every room of the house. The smell was still strong af tho
@Kyeh@macromeh cat smell I’m referring to is spraying and urine. No matter how hidden the litter boxes are or how many scent beads are everywhere, it’s there. Like Axe body spray on a teenage football player, it’s just fruity scented urine now
Yeah, unwashed dogs smell pretty terrible to me, as well as the houses of people who rely on pee pads for bad weather or spoiled pups. (I know from experience with a relative’s place.)
Just did that.
We flew in to ATL (from ALB) at 2200 CDT last night.
Drove home (2 hrs). Arrived home @ 2300 CDT.
Welcomed home by the kitties who met us in the driveway. Put out some canned food as a treat.
Dropped the luggage and hit the rack.
Up at 0430 to leave at 0630 and drive 3.5 hrs+ for an appt. after throwing some water on the (dying) plants outside.
Will be back home again in 2.5 days. On the way home Mrs CF will tutor a couple of kids for the upcoming ACT test.
Pretty typical schedule for us. Almost always worked within 12 hours of my trip returns when I was full time ER.
#hit the ground running …
Lol when there was only 1 cat. I could get away with a week. And a full to the brim bowl of food. Water fountain with resovior. And a clean litter box. A couple of days and hed be fine. Didn’t come up much but. He would be fine.
I was pounced every day anyway coming home from work. Was a one off but he could take care of himself.
Wait, did I walk in to the wrong house again?
KuoH

@DocJRoberts @Kyeh Apparently ferrets also like to mark their territory.

@chienfou

But SO worth it …
@chienfou
So how did your house smell?
@Kyeh
Like we left it… One of the benefits of having indoor outdoor cats!
