@shahnm that is so Correct, that same goes for Film Darkroom paper ( Yes, I have used a LOT of film in the past & have a Darkroom is now more used for long term storage!)

@mycya4me Closest Walmart is 20 miles away, same with Dollar Tree and Dollar General. Seriously. I live in central time and live closer to the border of mountain time than I do to Walmart. I’m 6 miles to the change to mountain time.
Disappointment is probably closest, but also faint hope that the C and or D cells I have are still fresh enough to work, since I’ve been getting rid of everything that used anything but the smaller cells or rechargeables for years now.
Search for other battery powered devices in hopes of finding one that uses the type of battery I need so I can take them out of that one and put them in the one I want to use. If I don’t find any it’s time to do a cost/benefit analysis on whether it’s time to go to the nearest Wal-Mart, order some batteries online, or forget it since I didn’t need to use that thing (it’s usually a flashlight) all that badly to begin with.
I don’t really care about the batteries, I always have batteries on hand, except maybe 9-volts. 9-volt batteries are the pains in the butt in the battery family. I just want to say that’s the best copy I’ve read on Meh! I actually learned something about tube feeders. Who knew cardinals can’t land on the pegs? Are you going to be carrying any flat feeders in the near future?
@kittykat9180 My smoke detectors have sealed lithium batteries that last longer than the lifespan of the smoke detector itself. Costs a few bucks more, but it more than pays for itself from not having to buy batteries over the course of ten years.
@brennyn, I replaced mine just over a year ago, I didn’t know that was an option. Are yours hardwired into the house as well?
The smoke detector attached to my home security system uses AA, which is a battery I don’t keep around the house.
Sit and weep for not buying these converters and knowing that now I’ll never be able to use that device again.
That or go to the store and buy correct size batteries.
I have all the things. Batteries et al. My daughter sent me a text because she needed a Raspberry Pi zero w for an engineering project at school (they are building an air gondola). I did already have one but I bought another because I have ADHD and am a fan of redundancy.
She also swiped the pi camera and added it to the project. She also stole my pi motor shield because it was 7g lighter than the one they were given.
With a proper refrigerator and a bit of planning, you too can experience battery bliss…!

When you live in the middle of nowhere you keep all sizes of batteries on hand. I’m not driving 20+ miles one way to get batteries.

Maintaining spares is just second nature. Some of our best equipment still uses the larger batteries.

Smugness because you live in hurricane zone and have spare batteries for all of your devices.
I don’t have an emotional response, I just go to the store and get the batteries I need and move on with my life.
