Wow, I didn't know it would do that!
16I’ve been blowing bubbles for the kittens. I thought I’d taken a couple of movies of them catching the bubbles, but I guess I forgot to push the record button on the camera, because they are nowhere to be found. Dur dur dur.
Then I wondered about time lapse, because it would be easier to have individual pictures than try grabbing a frame from the video. Looked up time lapse for my camera and it has a setting for time lapse photography! I am thrilled and looking forward to using it.
I’ve had this camera for almost two years.
Is there anything new that you’ve discovered about something you’ve had (and used) for a while?

A really strong 1/2" cordless drill, a socket adapter, and a well-lubed scissors jack can make a near-racing-speed tire change possible.
I recently discovered OBS (yes, I know it’s not new) and it has opened up all kinds of new possibilities for my aging PC.
@2many2no This deserves further research. What an interesting rabbit hole you’ve shown me. And all the links they have to additional free and open source tools is great. Thanks.
@2many2no @Doooood I agree. I’m reinstalling Windows right now on an old laptop, one that I run my weather station and rooftop cam from. An occasional streaming option would be nice.
@2many2no @Doooood Sadly, the laptop is history.
Oh, well. I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did.
@lisaviolet It died while you were installing Windows? Physically failed?
@lisaviolet symptoms? It’s been a while but fixing computers is my jam although if it is really old might not be worth your time troubleshooting.
@bdb @unksol Yeah. NTFS problem, then BIOS, then NTFS again. I tried fixing it for hours, no luck. It just wouldn’t boot up. I tried booting from a USB drive and it just wouldn’t. I ran the checks at startup and when it was doing the memory check, it would just shut down. I did it like four times and it shut down each time. I think it got too hot and just died. The system fan was pretty noisy at startup when I was working with it.
There was no recovery option. No F11 in the setup menu.
It did run hot, it always had. I had a couple of fans running on it to keep it cooler, but it was old and I’m not going to bother with it any longer. Into the recycle bin. Sometimes you just have to say “no more”.
I got a little mini-tower on eBay, the same kind I run my NAS from. It should be here Friday.
Meantime, I hooked up the weather station and the roofcam to the NAS system and it works, so setting up the other system should take hardly any time at all.
I didn’t make enchiladas for dinner, which had been my plan, but I did get the deviled eggs made! Enchiladas are time consuming.
I mean I’m just wanting to see the kittens chasing bubbles.
@unksol I concur. Show us your kitties!
@Tripod2
is that a veiled Mardi Gras reference?!?
@unksol
I first read your remark as
“kittens chasing hobbits” instead of chasing bubbles.
/giphy hobbits kittens

@f00l what are you smoking and do I want any? Lol
@f00l @unksol For some reason that cat’s walk reminds me of Jake the Peg…
I spent almost 12 years using it for liquid waste disposal before I discovered another use for it
@ajdillon At the risk of looking foolish for not getting an “obvious” reference that I don’t recognize… I have to ask, “what object is that you’re talking about?”
What kind of bubbles? I tried some catnip bubbles stuff but it did not make lots of fun bubbles. Mostly a mess and bored cat. I was disappointed as I bought a bunch and gave them out as gifts to cat people. Hmmm. I wonder if that bottle is still in the cupboard?
I discover new to me stuff all the time. I seem to be too rigid and not experiment enough.
@speediedelivery We do this in the back yard.
Bubble guns - they’re cheap for a reason
Lots of bubbles - the guns come with bubbles, but not enough.
Not all of the cats care about the bubbles and I’ve had catnip bubbles in the past and the cats didn’t seem particularly interested in them.
Somewhere in this house/garage, I have a bubble machine. No idea where. I’d love to find it so it could blow bubbles and I could take video/photos and not have to be the bubble machine at the same time. Sometimes two hands are just not enough.
