Would there be interest in a Mehrican Fuck-you-buckaroo exchange??
14Back on Woot, I managed several Wootizens BOC exchanges in which people signed up and were paired with others from across the country to realistically pass crap along. Initially these were widely successfully and were a big hit. Unfortunately as the numbers started to go south on deals.woot so did the numbers for the exchange. Right now I'm starting this forum to simple check if there would be enough interest. You can find some basic info here. Also, as in previous exchanges, staff are welcome to participate.

I'll donate a backup bag which will be a Medium sized USPS flat rate box in case someone gets screwed over in the exchange. I really doubt that would happen but let me know if it does and i'll assemble a bag and mail it out.
Stand up guy like always.
Fuck you buckaroo! How dare you make me appreciate you. You kind-hearted jerk!
thanks CGC. 3kind5me
I have piles of semi-useful and interesting crap that I have to weave my way around plus a supply of post office priority mail boxes that I can fit 2 pounds o'stuff in ... So yeah I'm interested in trading BOC.
that sounds very interesting... i get stuff from loot crate that i'd be willing to trade off for other cool stuff
whoa whoa whoa- who said anything about cool stuff?
Well...since you won't ship to an APO/FPO (yet...), I'll bet you would be willing to get a box from an APO. I got crap from multiple countries I can stuff in a USPS box.
For a crowd-sourced bag, I'm sure someone would be willing to ship to APO/FPO. For example, I would
Yeah I will ship to an APO/FPO address. Basically anything with a USA zipcode works for me.
I would too!
Heck yeah. Even though I only scored a BOC at that other site recently (after trying for 8 years), I have plenty of crap lying around my house that I could send out.
I am in!
Absofuckinglutely!
Yes. Yes, I would.
I'd actually gather up the crap and make my own box of crap contest and raise the money back, sometimes even get more money than I paid. But exchanges sound fancy too, as long as PO boxes are in!
I'll join! Just to clarify, these are US (& APO/FPO) addresses only, right? I ask because international shipping costs went way up in Jan 2013, it costs almost $13 to send a CD to Europe now, more than double what it was a few years ago.
Yes, we have allowed PO boxes in the past. International shipping happened once when someone offered to send a package to Brazil.
Yes it is US shipping with a US zip code and mine is handled by your friendly flyboys of the US Air Force.
I love seeing community initiatives like this but the idea just doesn't fully resonate with me... I'm also sort of thinking we need to grow out of start-up site infancy to get critical mass that makes it fun? Happy to be wrong.
What about it doesn't resonate? Also, in its peak the exchange only had about 80 participants with a total of 196 bags being sent out.
Many people have commented that this exchanged allowed them to receive crap when they were never able to get some from Woot, just for fun.
Yup- This was always done on the Deals.woot platform. Much smaller community made this a whole lot easier to do.
@snapster i think they want an unoffical community crap exchange while you work on critical mass.
@marklog exactly. I do not have the time or means to spearhead a critical mass style exchange. But we can work out the kinks for large scale
So people with random crap can join? Not just those of us passing along official Meh crap? I'm looking forward to sharing my ValPaks.
Correct. Typically people will go a bit above and beyond with these and give more than the baseline 3 craps and the bag.
@studerc Great news! I wouldn't really send my junk mail, except perhaps as packing material.
I'll do it as long as the rules and regs aren't in a Word document. I fucking hate Word documents.
I will probably update the rules and regs to be in a Google doc actually to allow people to ease of posting comments and questions
I'm in. This is a great chance to get rid of the crap I have without throwing it away. Anyone care to make a "mines bigger than yours" wager?
There have been some crazy ones in the past, I'm talking around 75 lbs.
can't do this until I actually clean a corner of my house. maybe in several decades? always good to have goals, right?
I'm always down for fucking some buckaroos. It's a cowboy's way of saying hello.
Count me in
I haven't even gotten mine yet and you think it's better than yours, hm? Prove an upside to me and maybe, just maybe.
I participated in the first one over on woot. It was really fun! It was as much fun (or more) making the box to send and seeing the person's reaction as it was receiving something. I'm totally in again!
i'm in. i've definitely got some junk to give away. did i say junk? i meant highly prized items.

I mean, I'd be interested. I've given out most of my Random Stuff In Bag Form From Another Website Which Will Remain Unnamed For Purposes of Dignity and Valor, but I have other stuff kicking around I could throw in a flat-rate box or something and mail somewhere.
Trading my random crap for other random crap? Count me in!
I like to compare this to trading pokemon cards except you don't know what you are trading for and the other person doesn't know either.
dude that's so 2000-late. It's all about wonder trading now http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Wonder_Trade
What is this magic?!?! You are also correct in that I never made it past pokemon silver...
I'm not familiar with this Po-kee-mon phenomenon. But I do have extra Game of Thrones collectible trading cards to include in my FukuBoxes.
I could probably offer up some vintage Garbage Pail Kids cards.
I have 2 binders of 1st edition Pokemon cards at my house and an unopened box of 1st Edition Booster Packs
Im in .... I just need to remember to put airholes in the box... damn cats meow is starting to sound like Meh
I'm probably in. Need to see if I can find enough crap to pass on, so that no one ends up with a box of 10 pairs of reading glasses.
that would be a pretty awful thing to receive in the mail
I actually sent a shoebox full of random sunglasses in the swap I was part of.
I'd be down to do this. I hope someone out there likes kangaroos
I'm in!
I'm always good for some junk...count me in!
I'm in. Just moved and rediscovered plenty of crap that would be better relocated to a bag.
Ditto on that!
Sounds like a fun and random way to redistribute stuff.
Not unless you pronounce it correctly. It sounds more like: Foo-koo-boo-koo-row. Using the nickname you've given it just seems uncivilized. (pinkies up!)
I've never heard of this before, but I've got plenty of non-essential-to-me new "crap" I'd LOVE to have the fun of trading for other "new/different crap". Count me in - I'll give it a try.......after all, the anticipation of the wait for crap is normally much more fun than the actual crap itself!
I'm in!
I was in until you guys started cussing.

Some how my e-mail was missed last time and I didn't get to give any crap away. I have like 6 boxes full. Please do this again, I always joined in. Long live those little things that made Deals.woot worth it.
Well I was going to start one in early June but then life got in the way with buying a house and moving and such.
I'll play.
I like this idea. It gives me an excuse to go to the post office and send out stuff I need to send out anyway.
Just to let everyone know that I'm actually pretty pleased with the immediate feedback and interest here that I will be going forward with this mini-community project. Stay tuned in the next day or so for more information!
Are baked goods acceptable filler? What about strange candy?
In the past we made rules against sending food that spoils quickly. We also strayed away from food because of allergies such as nuts.
Yeah, that was my concern. I used to ship baked goods to friends, shipping priority, asking about allergies. Booze?
@Mavyn no booze allowed in USPS boxes. They are considering allowing under certain conditions in the future but none now.
I've sent coffee beans, giardiniera, popcorn, foreign candies, etc in these exchanges & no complaints. Share your baking magicks!
Haha, as the recipient of some of @goldenthorn 's goodies I would say that you are probably in the clear.
I wouldn't feel comfortable eating baked goods from randoms on the internet even if we chatted a lot on forums. thats just me though
Keep in mind though, @cowboydann eating said baked goods would be up to your discretion. You wouldn't have to eat it.
Says you. If I get baked goods, I HAVE to eat them. No control over that. The control is in the decision whether or not to send them.
@cowboydann would you take baked goods if they were from me and made with the cookie press you gave me like 1.5 yrs ago in a Dann o Crap?
Maybe you kal, but thats just cause aya trusts you.
@cowboydann would you eat baked cookies that I carried around all day in my buttcrack, then lovingly shipped to you?
I could possibly be in for such an exchange... I have magnificently large boxes of crap waiting for another home.
So you're saying it'd be like WifeSwap, but without most of the bitchiness?
I have 2 boxes ready to go.
I'm interested... could be fun.
I would definitely like to be a part of this! Only down side is dependent on when it happens. I have a business trip coming up soon that could drag on for up to two months.. Hard to ship crap then.. Otherwise I'm game!
I've signed up via the email address in the other thread.
I have sooooooo much crap to get rid of (not to mention several hundred woot! monkeys)
