who are these people that don't participate?? and why haven't we burned them at the stake?? err... baked them a cake so they'll join the fun. we should be on the lookout.
They do. In order to limit oversaturation, meh has 26 versions of the forum, and they're linked to each person's username. We're in the "T" forum, as identified by the codename of our moderator "@JonT." The other forums are moderated by "@JonA", "@JonB", etc.
I don't participate as much as I used to for a couple reasons:
You people are scary
It's too difficult to track everything that's being posted... maybe not difficult, but time consuming.
Got a new job and don't have as much spare time as I used to
With the format of the forums the way they are, if I post something today, the topic I posted could be burried the next day by Haikus or something, and now I've lost it.
There are a lot of inside jokes, and I am no longer inside, so I don't get/understand a lot of what is said.
Did I mention you people are scary?
So, to break it down, my assumption as to why people (since I am people) don't participate is because of time constraints, and well, you people are scary.
@Bogie If there's any inside jokes you'd like explained, now's probably the time to ask about them. Otherwise, you'll sit around wondering about them or would make some thread (that thanks to @mfladd) would end up being awkward.
Back in woot days, I did not follow the forums. Too many people knew too many memejokes that I did not that made it hard to know what was really being said.
Now, in meh days, I'm all, like, meh, who cares? And there are still too many people with too many memejokes that I don't get that make it hard to know what's really being said.
As a community manager type I always want more people to participate and join in on the fun, but I understand why people don't. I lurk in other various online communities too, and I always have to keep the 1% rule in mind.
Still, I think that our little community is so much less intimidating than something like Reddit or Imgur! There aren't a ton of rules to learn and follow, or 10+ stickies to read, you can post about any subject so you don't need to worry about posting "off-topic" stuff and for the most part, and if you aren't crazy unreasonable then everyone will be pretty nice to you (even if you ask dumb questions).
So if you're a lurker reading this, why not toss out a few posts? You might have some fun.
@DaveInSoCal Ok, my favorite in your Internet Rules:
Q. Stacy's Mom has got it going on. No exceptions.
Let's do this. I actually saw them in concert in my lame town with Matchbox 20. People sat there confused. But if it was a Monster Truck Rally they would be on their feet.
I would be a hell of a lot harder to follow.

@DaveInSoCal I wish I was on the "Y" forum. All the "My Little JonY" jokes would almost write themselves!
@DaveInSoCal I had a feeling that this was the case.
@DaveInSoCal Mind is blown
@DaveInSoCal I've had it with junk puns over in my forum.
@JonQ i pity the fool who junk puns Mr. @JonT!
@DaveInSoCal i had to change my name back. I had an irrational fear that my name could be lost to me forever if I went to sleep as @JonQ
@DaveInSoCal Is this the fun group ? Or just the former woot crowd ? or are they the same ?
@DaveInSoCal wait, 26... is this why @jonT said they had the Google >>> Alphabet idea first?!
@DaveInSoCal wha...what? No…I don't think…I don't think we're supposed know about each other.
Where am I? Who am I?
@JonT there can only be one:
@JonT I've got your back, buddy...
"It's the most amazing thing I've ever seen."
@JonT
@DaveInSoCal wait so is it "Berensttin" here in the T universe?
@Starblind unfortunately, if there were a y forum, then I would have to participate as well.
@connorbush
@joelmw go on...
@connorbush Full participation would be madness, that's all.
@joelmw agreed..I was leaning toward it being such. It just does not seem practical in any way.

@Bogie you're scary
@Bogie Us scary? We are your neighbor, your co-worker, the guy who delivers your mail.
Why Don't You Join With Us???????????
@Bogie We aren't that scary...
@Bogie Once you have @jsh139's awesome Mehscroller extension for your browser, it's a lot easier to follow everything on the forums (or a lot more than you could otherwise).
@mfladd
@Bogie If there's any inside jokes you'd like explained, now's probably the time to ask about them. Otherwise, you'll sit around wondering about them or would make some thread (that thanks to @mfladd) would end up being awkward.
@Bogie
@dashcloud
@mfladd
@dashcloud Firefox extension...
@Thumperchick Speak for yourself. Check that. Yes, we are.
@Bogie
Aw, thanks. I like you too. :-)
@Thumperchick
Uhh, I see a female looking bunny kinda person on the right of that picture. Not exactly how I pictured you, though it's probably gonna stick now.
@Thumperchick Don't take away my pathetic delusions of scary grandeur. I need them to talk myself into Raspberry Pi.
@Bogie Would you prefer Chrome?
@cinoclav That works for me. Be afraid of the TC!
@dashcloud Chrome is better... Added
@Bogie You are on our radar.
Drat, hit the wrong button to nest the reply.
@speediedelivery That just makes it better. But you should know:
You have a @bogie at your ten o'clock!
@curtise
@speediedelivery I think saying that as a non-reply was appropriate.

Most of my shit time happens in the restroom.
Back on topic, yeah, it'd be spammier, but the more the merrier.
It sure would make my job a lot harder.

@JonT And for anyone else interested, these are the rest of the rules of the internet.
@JonT
Let me guess. I am not helping?

Yes! to Rachel Hunter
@JonT You know, you guys have access to actual statistics of the Meh community. Could you verify the 1% rule is accurate for Meh?
@mfladd Your 'help' is a unique skill set.
@DaveInSoCal TLDR: something about a barnacle. Noted.
@JonT there once was an ugly barnacle... YES best reference.
