I've noticed that yesterday and today that Woot has been having a Woot-Off on just sellout. What are they doing holding out for Meh to pull the trigger on the "Meh-a-thon" and then have a Woot-Off the same time?
@phatmass I remember that video. It Made me happy to see that you received a GPS unit (after yours got ganked). I also though it was cool that you used the drink holders right away. Awesome video, thanks for reposting.
They've been trying anything and everything to gain back some community, hence the crossword puzzle too.
I have no idea if it's meeting any of their expectations - if there was any to begin with. Sometimes, I still feel they're running the place like they used to - with a dart board.
@narfcake I looked at the comment levels on the Sellout deals during the Woot-off- only a handful got 5 or more comments (8 was the highest number I saw), and if you don't count bot posts, some items would have no comments at all.
I gave up commenting there once I realized that they silently delete comments that are even slightly sarcastic about the products they sell, even when it's a wristwatch for $4K. No sense of humor I guess. (although I've never had a comment deleted from the mothership...go figure)
@Thumperchick Maybe so, but if the other mods and management aren't doing anything to stop the rogue mod, then they're somewhat responsible for it as well. It's a bit like saying, "Oh, that's a great school, usually only one of the teachers molests the students."
@Starblind So, molestation = moderating comments. o_0 Your point is valid overall. One overly domineering person interacting with the public in a negative way is one too many.
Is it sad that I don't even care about woot offs anymore? Even after this?

@phatmass Nice "Fitz my Schlitz"

@Kerig3 There's really only on mod that does that, usually. She tends to go a bit overboard.

@Kerig3 slightly unrelated but we bought modnazi.com to poke fun at this (and then realized it sounded like a horrible political faction).
@snapster Or a fantastic fashion site!
The 'W**tilati' tab has the hard-core believers and gamers. I don't think they edit comments there.
