Just a quick PSA. EarPods are not water proof. Wash anything else to your heart’s content but only use on dry function with electronics that aren’t water proof. But their video says it works well on pencils and mail. Soak those if you like. You may not be using that stuff.
I got one of these last time meh.com offered it. I tried it a couple of times but haven’t used it much since. It does appear to work as advertised.
“Activated oxygen” is marketing speak for ozone, which is excellent for deodorizing and sanitizing things. Dissolve ozone in water and it makes an excellent liquid sanitizer, more effective and faster acting than chlorinated water, aka bleach. Also, ozone breaks down into oxygen, which is fairly harmless, unlike chlorine.
In small concentrations, or in places where people and animals are not, it is safe to use. In larger concentrations, it can irritate nasal passages and the like and is likely not good.
It will break down organic substances, for example rubber, so using it on something like a CPAP machine is not a good idea, though using it on the disposable parts like nasal pillows and masks is probably fine.
@baqui63 I used to have the Lotus Sanitizing System, which had the ability to pour the ozonated water into a spray bottle which worked great for mildew in showers and grime everywhere. Is it possible to use this machine that way?
This item cannot do what you described but this recent-ish item at meh (look for it on sidedeal or morningsave?) is exactly what you’re describing. I’ve purchased both of these items. Oct 30, 2024 meh item, click picture for link.
For as much counter space as it appears this takes up, it would need to do a lot more than possibly sanitize my produce. Much of my counter is already taken up with a sink which I expect does just about as good of a job.
A few germs isn’t why I wash my produce. I am trying to get rid of the pesticides. FDA says to wash & everything is fine. Other sources say washing doesn’t work & we are all poisoning ourselves.
Buy organic they say! But talking to real orchard farmers, they tell me they spray with OMRI approved pesticides & these are a little less toxic but they do kill the worms so ya better wash those too.
@Joedetroit The carnivores can eat the pesticide caked veggies and so you will still ingest pesticides that way. Better if you didn’t eat at all. And don’t drink the water either - micro plastic bits. Safer.
@Kidsandliz ahhHA! But I could eat only pasture raised! There’s a just a few miles away that sells beef, chicken, & pork. I got a steak from his store once, fresh strip steak & grilled it. It was as good as any steak I ever ate. I was most certainly the most I ever paid for an uncooked steak.
So I could eat that way… for a while. Till I ran outa money.
Some kid took a look at mom’s salad spinner and thought… I can do somefin’ wif’ dat whack rak. And then built it with one PRIMARY control on the back so it’ll never be seen nor used (hence the sale on meh).
My TOTO Washlet also uses “eWater+ Technology” to sanitize the “wand”, so the kid also took parts from that, too in this mashup.
Even if it does do a good job at sanitizing produce, it does nothing to clean off pesticides. So you’ll still need to use soap and water to get those out. May as well save a step and just do that.
Bought this to use for sanitizing baby bottles because we didn’t like the heat of the most popular sanitizers out there. We use glass bottles but the anti-colic stem is plastic. Didn’t use the activated oxygen portion because it stains the silicon nipples. So in essence, we got it for the UV. When trying the activated oxygen feature, just keep in mind, the maintenance for releasing the water includes a hose to drain into sink and can be a pain.
@loudersoft Someone mentions above that the ozone will break down (or at least, start to) any organic, including the rubber in most CPAP stuff. (edit: Though, it occurs to me now that it might be at an acceptable rate though; presumably, almost any rubber hose or gasket has a limited lifespan anyway.)

Will this also wash my socks at the same time as washing my fruit?
Worst. Rice maker. Ever.
@yakkoTDI Wash your rice before cooking.
This feels super “doesn’t do what it says”

Snake Oil for Techno-Nerds!!
/showme foolish people buying a worthless product that says it’ll magically clean items but is just a scam
@mediocrebot Great job Mr. Bot!!
@mediocrebot Correction - except for the hawker’s 2 right thumbs!
@IndifferentDude Probably a side effect of handling his product.
And are those sea urchins or Koosh balls on the table?
@IndifferentDude @mediocrebot
Watch closely, at no time do my fingers leave my hands!
I’m out
@ybmuG But that’s only if used externally. It is a new year, go for a new challenge.

@baqui63 I guess that’s like saying I love drinking dihydrogen monoxide, a.k.a. H2O A.k.a. water

Just how big of a germophobe do you have to be to need to throw your carrots in this contraption before you eat them?
I know there are a lot of stories about contaminated vegetables on the news now, but it’s still an incredibly rare problem.
Will this wash my plums?
@warpedrotors Nope. Maybe your wrinkled up prunes though.
Won’t a pressure cooker do the same?

Maybe I should just go total carnivore.

@Joedetroit Yea,“organic” doesn’t mean “pesticide-free” it just means “different pesticides”
The people who bought one but found that it didn’t work are unable to comment because they died of listeria or salmonella.
“Fruits and Vegetables”
@Pufferfishy An Apple is a fruit!

@hammi99 but is in even the right kind of UV? Will it give a banana a suntan, is what I’m asking.
Also, if it does, it produces ozone even with the ozone setting off; unless you flood the device with an inert gas, UV-C alone will produce ozone…
I see this as a future IRK item…
I want to use this for makeup brushes
I think I’ll live dangerously and be happy i don’t have to make room for another kitchen appliance. Btw… Eating Danger Veg = Band name
@pbwisco Sanitized Vegetables would be a good name for a rock band.
I haven’t died yet from not using one of these. I think I’ll keep living on the edge.
You can use this to sanitize that filthy CPAP you use every night. It’s the same technology and it’s way cheaper.

This thing sold for over $275! Crazy.
How is the MSRP $348 yet they are sellin it for $30? Make it.make sense!
@cristysue Some people are suckers?
Who has the countertop space for this?
Just noticed in the write-up:
Apparently Emeril agrees with your speling
