I hate the new redesign to look like an app. Also in say sports it is harder to find women’s clothing. The whole thing is much harder to see if there’s anything interesting.
What do the rest of you think?
@musmagic I still visit Woot! occasionally (once-a-weekish) and I am oblivious to any recent redesign. I strictly look at the “main deal” for each sub-woot and don’t even scroll down to the additional shopping navigation, so if that is where things have recently changed, it makes sense I was not aware.
I usually search the forum topics if I’m looking for something specific. I use my laptop mostly though. I generally hate using my phone for web surfing.
Haven’t touched Woot in years; it was getting iffy when they kept adding more <insert category here>.woot.coms, and then when those pages started having multiple things (and subpages of multiple things) it was time to give them up. They’d just become a dumping ground for crap and no longer a curated actual deal site.
I used to visit Woot occasionally. Never once ventured into the forums. After it got sold to Amazon, never went there again. After discovering Meh, I don’t know why I visited the forms and started coming here everyday. Probably the daily poll and the Meh button. Good work, Meh marketing.
I miss the deals.woot where people posted deals they found outside of Woot.com. You got worthless internet points and different colored shapes to show off how good of a deal hunter you were. That’s what pulled me into woot in the first place over 10 years ago.
Throw in the Bags of crap where you actually got at least 1 neat item. Now it feels they use it as a way to get paid to send garbage to other people. I miss the good old days.
Oh yeah, and Turntable events (Music Mondays) using a social media music player to play music with others… I still chat with some of those people 8 years later!
<sigh> I’m becoming a grumpy old man… Get off my lawn!
@duodec oh man! That’s too bad. This set I hooked up to one of those sneaker power banks and it ran the whole 6 hours of the sale. I totally assumed it would have pooped out a couple hours in but it didn’t!
I think i haven’t been able to find anything there in a long long time.
New redesign? Did I miss something?

Also…there’s this
Sadly, Woot jumped the shark ages ago. If I need something I just go to their parent Amazon…it has a search function and a wider selection.
@Zott Sometimes cheaper prices too.

Thanks for the tip! I checked it out and it’s like meh, but with SO many more deals!
@medz
@medz SO many more deals!
… and the vast majority of them suck.

Woot: A good place to buy batteries.

@CaptAmehrican Thank you! Weird and nice is pretty much my goals for everything.

can be useful for finding stuff.
I left Woot with the fall of deals.woot

@Bogie thank you for remembering music monday
@moonhat My woot-off lights died with a terrible grinding of cheap chinese gears…

Speaking of Woot, using the Woot lights to help advertise for my employee charitable campaign Bake Sake today!
