@medz Same. It bothers me (more than it should) that they don’t often reward their more loyal customers, but rather focus it on people that have basically abandoned them.

Never got one. And Woot does not seem to value me.

@ACraigL That’s always the issue with marketing online. They only go after those that leave. I recently waited in a charity fundraiser, only to be offered greater chances in their auction. Next time, i may just wait until the final day.

Customer retention is quite hard. Woot now does it with forum fun, but that has more to do with forum participation than actual purchases, which just gets you a hidden mouseover number.

If Woot still had great deals like their pre-amazonian days, that may have been enough. But with the deals being so meh, it’s hard to believe their still afloat at all.

@f00l I don’t feel sad if you didn’t get one, because that’s the game. I empathize with you though, as never getting it does hurt, what, with some people getting 40 or 50 of them so far.

FWIW, they prepacked the last batch of BoCs and they were rather mediocre. You can see it in my Santa Fuko reveal. Regardless, the fun is in trying to snatch them. and obviously, finally snagging one. And for that, wootalyzer and a sturdy F5 button helps quite a bit.

@DrunkCat Oh yeah. Sometimes multiple in a month. They had to institute a 1 BOC per 7 days per account rule due to the way they offer them in multiple sales spread-out across the day(s). I remember when scoring 2 during a month was a big deal because you had to be very fast with two browsers/devices open with two different accounts and clicking buy on the same sale. Now it’s almost too easy. One woot-off I bought like 8 BOCs for friends and family who trust me with their account passwords.
I helps if you have a job where you’re at a computer for 8+ hours a day and know a few tricks to get alerted when “hidden” craps come up.
Nowadays, I limit myself to 1 crap per event and maybe I’ll text my bros if there is one I think they could get in time.

I was always on cellular way back when during BOCs, and cellular just wouldnt do, even when i saw the damned thing come up. Like 6 years ago or something.

Then Woot became AmaWoot. Then i stopped caring about any Woot site but Deals.Woot. Then Woot was obviously multiplying not only sites but lots of garbage. Then Woots Daily Deals got sad and not special at all. The market changed, Woot changed bigtime. I stopped entirely caring by the time LTE had gotten really reliable and good everywhere. Now if i hear about a BOC i avoid the site.

Have you seen the recent (lack of) comments on their Daily Deals? Who is still buying from them (other than shirts and BOCs)? Gnomes? Zombies?

I still post audiobooks in Deals.Woot and sometimes comment there and sometimes vote up/down various deals, but Deals.Woot is mostly Amazon Storefront spam and is very sad and the upvoting can be way shill and most of the Community is gone. Deals.Woot is so sad i wonder why i bother. Almost self-flagellation.

Once I got a Fuko/Fuku here. Forget which. It was decent and mad me think “finally”! I forget what was in it. Some nice stuff.

If i saw a Fuko/Fuku here, i would try, but not thru capcha hell or anything. It’s just stuff, i am already oversupplied. I flee from my storage/garage/closets already. I really need to do that “Tidying Up” thing.

So i love this place. And i actively mourn Woot, even as i go there with my daily audiobook favs. I miss what it was or could have been, but dont expect good things anymore. Perhaps they’ll happen. Huh.

In the meantime, aside from the sad and spammed Deals site and the creative Shirt site, Woot seems to be Amazon’s remainder and discontinued and special purchase outlet. And an outlet for what pretends to be humorous product commentary. Whatever. I can usually get the same stuff on Amazon at a similar price within a month, and have Prime shipping, phone customer service, a great return policy. Both charge me sales tax. Again, whatever.

So it’s all cool i guess.

@f00l That pretty much sums up my feelings. I never got too into deals.woot but I did spend time being a flagrant ass in the comment sections and tried a bit to break into the shirt.woot community.

@f00l I’ve been slowly but surely just given up. The latest thing to greet me in the morning (on the “Top Deals” tab, whatever that’s supposed to mean) from the storefront spammers has been horrible sex toys, and it really bothers me that there’s no one to police it until I hit the tattle button on it.

I remember when they used to regularly delete OhCheri items if her landing page had inappropriate items on it. JumboWoot would be horrified to see what it’s become. For that matter, I imagine that Snapster’s not all that thrilled, either.

I do wish that people who should know better would quit answering the idiot questions, though. When someone with broken English asks how to post their deal, they do NOT need help or advice. Just downvotes.

It’s nice to come over here, and see people being silly, where I can smile at things, and not feel pity and sadness all the time…and I can vote up everyone, and no one can see my karma…because, YOU get an upvote, and YOU get an upvote, EVERYBODY GETS AN UPVOTE!!!
