@somf69 I’m with somf69. Thought it was a portable DVD player (with built in screen). The sad thing is that I actually own this Foreman grill and use it maybe one or twice a month, so that says either something about me or something about the photo.
@JvB
Presumably the elder George Foreman [two-time world heavyweight boxing champion and Olympic gold medalist in boxing], not the multiple similarly named offspring.
I remember when these came in prettier colors (mine was bluish purple) or at least their “bun warmers” did. Cook burgers below while “knocking out the fat” and warm the burger buns above.
I wonder if the drain is truly better, although almost anything would be better than that crappy plastic tray that came with the older ones.
One of the pictures shows the temperature in Celcius. Is this the Canadian version or something? I don’t see any instructions in the manual to switch between C and F.
The drip tray is metal rather than plastic, and it slides under the middle from the side. The picture is taken from an Amazon review.
I’d like to replace my current contact grill, but mine has a doneness sensor - rather than setting the cook temperature, you set your content (chicken, steak, hot dogs, etc.) and it gives you a doneness indicator. I’d like a new version that lets you set the desired doneness rather than a color indicator of the current doneness, but it’s better than just setting cooking temperature and time. With hot dogs and sausages (our most frequent uses), you just let it go until it beeps that they are well done. I was hoping that the temperature control here was for meat temp rather than plate temp, which would have given me that improvement.
Smart? Nah, smart humans have been cooking without smart machines for years. Let’s make humans smart again and not machines. And they become stupid when the power goes out.
Brings back memories of the little George Foreman grill I had in college. That thing was great…it could cook a a burger patty or chicken breast in minutes and was also perfect for grilled cheese sandwiches. Aside from boiling water for pasta (including boxed mac and cheese), it could handle pretty much all of my culinary needs back then.
Now I have plenty of other ways to cook those things, not to mention a whole shelf full of small kitchen appliances that almost never get used in my basement, so I think I’ll pass.
@Skotyman
I think you’re thinking of smoking meat, whereas grilling is short interval high dry heat on a searing hot metal grid- which usually results in the smoke getting on your eyes, not in the meat.
I have a now ancient gf with an adjustable heat control. It rarely gets used now, but when I was learning to cook, that things was amazing! Burgers, hot dogs, quesadillas, panini, it rocked! I should probably clear out my cabinet and pass it along to younger poor people

Version 34.2?
Perfect for use at the Road Kill Cafe where you kill it and we grill it!!
At first glance, I thought it was a cd/dvd player
@somf69 radar/laser detector myself lol
@somf69 @tysontomko I saw a floppy disk drive…

@somf69 I thought it was a hard drive case.
@somf69 I thought it was another vacuum food sealer.
@somf69 Me too! Maybe v2 of this will plat discs for us as well. It would be a perfect Meh product.
@somf69 You’re almost right. It’s a CD/DVD burner.
@somf69 Either a BlueTooth speaker or a pool toy… (or something that uses micro USB).
@somf69
I thought it was another “generator” [actually long-term storage batteries].

I was tempted when I thought it was a CD player at first glance.
Which George Foreman’s grill is this?!
@JvB
Presumably the elder George Foreman [two-time world heavyweight boxing champion and Olympic gold medalist in boxing], not the multiple similarly named offspring.
@PhysAssist Right…The George Foreman Jr grills are single serving, not family size!
@JvB @PhysAssist when the write-up said this wasn’t your grandfather’s George… It really hit me how old I am (and how long these grills have been made)
Where is the drip-tray on this model?
@lonocat
Underneath [likely due to the effects of gravity].
Hopefully more helpfully:
Best,
PA

@swechsler actually, that picture shows 6:00, just the angle cut off part of the second 0 to look like a C
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who thought that was a CD player. I’m not fully convinced it’s not.
@kittykat9180 Order one and find out.
@yakkoTDI, but I don’t have any CDs if it ends up being a disc player.
@kittykat9180 I will send you two.

@Felyne Got a MHSA hat for me?
@Felyne @phendrick
This MHSA:

???
Tempted, then read a few of the negative reviews. Thought I’d replace the original GF grill that I’ve used a total of two times in fifteen years…
Wait, are you guys all saying this cooks using a laser?
I have never felt the desire to grill George Forman, or his family.

@kodiak55
Well, it’s no wonder that your small kitchen appliances don’t get used, given they’re all on a shelf in your basement.

I got a GF grill in 2000. Used it for over 15 years until the coating on the grill surface began to peel off.

Isn’t bathing the meat in smoke the whole idea of grilling? This is just cooking.

@Jamileigh17 please do not confuse GF with GFG
@Jamileigh17 @pakopako even if they’re equally hot
