I get the cheer specifically to give to the kids teachers but this year I might buy a second case to hide. I got a few old bottles of cheer in a Casemates mixed case and they aged beautifully.
@iggy71 that would be a very good option for most Non booze drinkers, but not for me. I can’t do the carbonation, it gives me gas & tears up my tummy! Not good! But that is a thoughtful idea. I would accept & regift to another friend.
@iggy71@therealjrn Thank You for the thought, I will be VERY happy to receive Cash (small bills, please) Gift Cards (The major credit card company one) Or of course ones to EBay, Amazon also would be nice!
@mycya4me@therealjrn Offer clearly stated sparkling cider for regular gift recipients only who are ungrateful towards receiving a perfectly fine gift that is not to their particular liking. So far, neither request has even reached that low status.
@mmoylan
Ever considered that maybe they know your father?
It’s a win-win: they get credit for giving you a gift, then go to your dad’s to drink it up!
The answers imply that the gift would be for me.
I’m very particular about my wine and I don’t like dry wines at all. So it would have to be from someone who knows me well and what kind of wine I like.
I would appreciate the gesture no matter who it’s from but wouldn’t drink it if it’s not something I like.
As the recipient, I had to say “no thanks” ONLY because I don’t drink alcohol anymore.
I DO think gifting wine (and alcohol) is a great gift idea though, it’s perfect for someone who’s just starting out and doesn’t have a stocked bar or liquor cabinet!
Which reminds me of another GREAT GIFT!
For about 5 years after getting my first apartment at 18, my mom would give me a big box filled to the brim with household staples for Christmas, all kinds of GOOD STUFF! The stuff you needed but hated to buy! (especially at that age )
One year she put everything in a beautiful wicker laundry basket, it lasted for years. Obviously, that was memorable! Whatever container she used it was loaded! She’d include stuff like bed sheets, laundry detergent, household cleaning supplies, toothpaste, toothbrushes, TP, PT, body soaps, new towels, washcloths, Q-tips, etc.
That was a gift I looked forward to year after year! Looking back, 45 years ago, that’s one of the most memorable and thoughtful gifts.
She built up lots of valuable “mom points” with that one!
Great!

Depends on the one receiving the gift. Me and some friends, no thanks. Some other friends, most definitely!
The survey implies many of us can replace wine with a bottle of sparkling cider to all the naysayer types. I’m all for that!

@iggy71 @mycya4me Can you just send me the money it would have cost?

@iggy71 @therealjrn If you want to send me it… Ok, I can serve it at a meal!

@BingleDerry
Late bloomer are ya?
As long as it is a wine I like.
Cabernet Sauvignon is the only wine that I like and absolutely no white wines…
…it’s the thought that counts
When people give me any wine that is sweet instead of dry I know they don’t know me, and it immediately gets regifted to my father.

I prefer white.
@Star2236 same. Medium sweet whites.

As a Josh, if one more person gives me Josh Wine…
…then I suppose I’ll thank them graciously and add it to the Josh Wine shelf with the others. But still.
