I pay $50 roughly for my co2 and we usually exchange it 2-3 times a year. We go through a ridiculous amount of water though. I think last time I did the math it was about $.02 per pint.
I pay my water bill every month and get a report on my water quality twice a year. All good. Buying water and filtering water is a scam that uses scare tactics to get your money. Your intelligent. Don’t fall for their bullshit. If your water’s bad. Demand that your water company fix it.

In a hurry, I drink tap water. It’s not too bad here, though higher in dissolved minerals than I’d prefer. But I also drink a lot of bottled water from a cooler, especially when I want a big glass of nice cold water or want hot water for a cup of coffee or tea or to add to instant noodles. I hydrate a lot more that way, according to the frequency of having to reload those 5 gallon jugs about once a week. I still blame the heat on our Goat.

I also crank the thermostat way down to 65° on the mini split in my bedroom at bedtime. I guess in an indirect way I do create heat with my excessive electricity usage. Sorry; not sorry.
Well water. I feel that needs to be specified separate from “tap” which I would consider purified “city” water.
Mine happens to be very good. I do have a 5 micron sediment filter on the main line and another filter housing I’ve not messed with in 13 years that feeds the fridge and a separate sink tap. And everyone on well water should be testing yearly especially if pregnant/small kids. Your state university should have programs for the base testing levels
This is a good setup because IF I ever choose to put a water softener back in they are bypassed so you aren’t drinking “soft” water. Not that big a deal.
But some people have awful well water as their only option and have to install complicated systems or resort to reverse osmosis for drinking water.
Desalinization in extreme cases or just mark Zuckerberg on a yacht. But Id like to think we have some navy members that appreciate it lol.

The long and short is that the concept of water filtration came much later, after the concept of brewing technology. It’s only after villages and cities noticed that frequent drinkers lived healthier lives that “there might be something (bad) in the water”… That gets removed during brewing… Like sifting out particles and boiling (distillation).
NO SODAS!!! So Bad for you. Not 1 redeeming quality. Read up on all the bad stuff besides the obvious sugar. And if you uthink diet is any better, pls read up on that as well. Bad for your bones and everything else…

I have good quality well water. I do use a whole house sediment filter and run the filtered water through an RO filter with a mineral/alkaline filter to condition the RO water back to a healthier level of minerals. Due to an untreated OCD condition, I feel compelled to test my water weekly with test strips and a TDS meter. According to my readings, my water is very good, i.e. just water.

I never drink pop bc all I drink is water but I had a Dr Pepper and cream soda yesterday and it was pretty good. It was first time trying that one. Dr Pepper is my pop of choice though.

I managed to find the elusive “Dr Pepper Creamy Coconut Soda” on Amazon & was excited to try it because it never was sold in stores here & I love coconut. But it tastes disappointingly pretty much the same as regular Dr. Pepper to me.
@Kyeh Yeah there are only a few special flavors that I like. One of them was the Dr. Pepper Vanilla Float that they discontinued Otherwise pretty much Cherry and the Cream Soda ones are pretty good too (and I’m a zero sugar only person nowadays)
@DocJRoberts I see. For me, it’s probably just as well that I don’t love the coconut flavor, because I don’t normally drink sweetened sodas, just flavored seltzer. I wish I’d had a chance to try 1 can instead of getting a 12 pack, but I guess I should give it away.
We have Brita pitchers in the fridge and on the counter to fill the kettle. We also have a water cooler that I got when offices were downsizing during Covid. The grocery store down the street has the RO, filtered, UV, blah blah refill station for 2.45 to refill the 5 gallon jug.
Just having a glass of water? Doesn’t really make a difference to me as long as it is not tap. However, if you are putting it through the soda stream, it has to be from the water cooler to taste great. The brita makes it eh, but not a substitute for the cans like the store water.
I tried to find DHMO-free water, but it was on backorder.
