@PooltoyWolf were you sensationalized? did you feel used and tossed aside by society? what did you do with the frogs? do wind chimes in a hurricane sound like mannheim steamroller on acid?
@irishbyblood I was indeed famous for a bit, I was on TIME’s website among others. It was pretty cool. The froggies went back to a normal life by the pond in our backyard. I can’t answer your last question since I brought them inside hahaha
@msklzannie I believe ours said they play amazing grace. I’ve never heard it. They just sound like chimes. The wind needs to learn the melody and get better rhythm.
I tore a windchime apart and used part as a pry bar when I was working on my truck. I guess that means I love that I could put something I hate to good use.
I received a set as a gift that is precisely cut to be tuned to a CMajor scale… I like them, they sound nice. But a lot of them seem to be just random tinkly sounds with no particular thought to musicality, which can be a bit annoying.
On the one hand l like wind chimes. On the other hand I do not like them banging around in the middle of the night. Several houses ago various folks in the neighborhood would get up in the middle of the night and tape together the billions one family had out all over their yard to shut them up. I do hang a small shell one in front of the window (inside so they don’t blow around, just look nice).
@Fuzzalini These folks also partied a lot, left their puppy chained in the back yard in all weather (southern, coastal VA). Not very considerate folks. I have no clue who started taping them together but the nights someone did that were nice. You could actually sleep if it was breezy out, open your window even.
We used to go to the Bristol Renaissance Faire every year; despite the excessive cost of everything at such an event we really liked the chimes one vendor had, and ended up ordering one (Mezzo, so fairly small) which has hung on our front porch for 10 years now (except for 6 months when the next unit had renters who bitched about it).
It really depends on what they are made out of.
I love the wind chime we bought from Costco last year. They’re selling a similar one right now.
Here, I just made this video for you (please excuse our work-in-progress porch):
@The_Tim those are actually quite nice.
@The_Tim
Those are really nice and I love love love your beautiful tree! Dogwood I believe?
@The_Tim those are very similar to the ones I have. I bet you got a much better price!!
@The_Tim Nice wind chimes, but I find no results when searching the Costco website.
@macromeh @The_Tim
How much are they?
Meh
I don’t like metal kind, but I love the bamboo ones. Shells are also nice.
@Pony we’ve tried shells my Mom brought from Florida and they were too brittle. And I have to remember to bring them in before Michigan winter hits.
@Pony Agree 100%. The metal ones drive me bonkers, but wooden ones are quite relaxing.
This:
@PocketBrain Adorable!
@PocketBrain
Aren’t they quite the duet! Love it!
I have two very nice sets of QMT chimes. One of them housed some frogs and I became an Internet sensation.
@PooltoyWolf how in the world did you find them?
@PooltoyWolf Did you ever get rich?
@PooltoyWolf were you sensationalized? did you feel used and tossed aside by society? what did you do with the frogs? do wind chimes in a hurricane sound like mannheim steamroller on acid?
@PooltoyWolf Says media can not be played. Is this the one you posted a while ago with the frogs in them? That was amazing.
@gjrupert The chimes sounded duller than usual! LOL
@OldCatLady I fudged the royalty thing. I get about $5 a month LMAO

@Kidsandliz That’s strange! But yeah, it’s the same one from before. Here is a YouTube upload from a news station:
@PooltoyWolf That’s so cool! Thanks for the update.
@irishbyblood You’re welcome haha
@PooltoyWolf Was that a black and white cat in the upper right keeping an eye on what you were doing hoping for a frog to fall out?
@Kidsandliz It must have been prints on a reusable shopping bag. We dont’ have any cats; I’m allergic!
@PooltoyWolf Or I could have been seeing things…
I really only like the wood (wood? Bamboo? Idk…) ones I have from Hawaii. Metal ones are just too much.
I gave a set that played “Amazing Grace” (IIRC) as a memorial to the family of a coworker who passed away.

I got Corinthian Bells windchimes for Mother’s Day a few years ago. It’s amazing. They resonate forever!
@Snshyn75 Aren’t they fantastic?? That’s what I have!

Not sure why but wind chimes are the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard to me. Can’t stand them.

@Kidsandliz It’s really unfair of them to foist their love of wind chimes on their neighbors.

I love them… oddly enough we don’t have any at the house.
@JnKL Same.
