On a low carb diet I need extra electrolytes or the water I drink just passes through.
Unfortunately these aren’t sugar free, so I’ll have to skip them. I usually go for Liquid IV, or LMNT.
It’s known that the presence of at least some carbs in a beverage has a positive impact on electrolyte uptake, and these mixes have very little by comparison to any sugar-sweetened soft drink.
@werehatrack I’m definitely not an expert on this, but yes that explanation is “plausible” at least. generally going full-zero on anything related to actual real foods is not good in the long term.
Disclaimer: does not include microplastics, “forever chemicals,” or radioactive elements.
I drink 8 cups of coffee a day. I’m fine. I pee like a water fountain in a public park.
I should clarify… The water fountains in public parks… That’s what I pee like. I don’t pee like a water fountain while I am in a public park. English is tricky.
@jitc I had a water bottle clipped to my waist when boarding a plane (first time flying in many years; I was out of practice) yes I knew the drill about draining it before TSA and refilling after.
when I boarded I realized I’d lost my precious container of life-sustaining H2O. (possibly found on the Tarmac later and required Hazmat team — never found out). so in the plane was offered bottle of water for $3-4. I said screw that, I’ll buy the wine instead! then they offered me a free cup with ice for the wine. I don’t normally drink wine on ice but figured the ice would melt and I’d get totally free bonus water! Flying sucks these days!
This antibiotic is cleaning me out, it’s the worst experience of my life. I had to stop it today bc I’m so sick to my stomach. The crazy thing is I’ve taken it a million times before and never had a reaction even somewhere close to this. I wonder if I just got so sick and it made intolerable to it. It sucks bc I’m immune to every antibiotic out there and this one always works.
@Star2236 Eek that is scary hope it either resolves quickly or else make sure to contact med staff even overnight if you feel the need (I’m not med staff but some people here are).
@Star2236 Check the label and see what dosage of tab or capsule is specified, and then pull one out and look up the identifying markings to see if it was correctly filled, if it’s not a factory-sealed dose pack. Sometimes a higher-dose tab or cap may not be larger in size but may be way too much to tolerate. I had that happen with azithromycin once. (Usually, that stuff comes in a dose pack, but this time they were loose - and wrong.)
@Star2236@werehatrack Definitely look and verify it is as expected. Look at the label for your name, med name, dosage, description. I had a prescription filled entirely wrong one time. I have no idea what it was. Had my label. Was not my pills. Somebody at the pharmacy must have been multitasking.
@sdb@werehatrack
It was augmentin, it was factory sealed. I have no idea what happened. I had to stop taking it yesterday bc I was sooooo sick. Last night I took some Valium, zofran (completely forgot I had them) and another narcotic and after a few hours I was finally able to eat a few pieces of toast and slept for the first time in days. I still woke up this morning rushing to the bathroom but my stomach isn’t as bad, I can actually get off the couch. It was scary. I’ve been drinking keifer and probiotic juice along with taking a probiotic trying to replace everything I’ve lost in my gut. I just got done eating breakfast ( I took it very slow) and don’t feel like I’m gonna hurl so I’m praying the worst is behind me. I’m actually not freezing cold for the first time in a week too. Just drinking a bunch of water also trying to rehydrate. I’m definitely gonna talk to my dr about what happened bc it was insane.
@sdb@Star2236@werehatrack sounds like for potential dehydration an IV is best. I used to hate the scary needle (bad experience my first time male nurse couldn’t jab properly) but after that all been OK I welcome the beautiful cool feeling of hydration. except now main U.S. source of IV fluid damaged by flood waters in North Carolina. Corporate acquisitions to maximize profits lead to acquiring competing factories, looting and shutting them down. so many single-source essential goods now, high risk area. </rant>
@sdb@Star2236@werehatrack Augmentin can cause those issues as it kills the gut bacteria. My dad and I always have that problem if we have to take it. It helps me if I take it w that probiotic yogurt. Good luck
Because I want to be!!
You try spending 2300 years in a vault in the desert, and see if you aren’t just a teeny bit parched.
@werehatrack Are you my mummy?
@hchavers @werehatrack
@blaineg @hchavers Those nanites can be a bit single-minded.
I’m not!
I blame the Texas sun
@hchavers and the fact that I live in the west Texas desert.

I’m not. I drink plenty of water.
@Pony Sure if I had someone filling a big trough for me, I’d drink more water too.
As a child, my main cause of dehydration was bedtime.
I don’t drink enough iced tea.
I like pickle juice or coconut water. But I don’t like having to drink artificial sugar just to get my electrolytes.
Grueling workout and not drinking enough water.
Dehydrated?

@OnionSoup in some other countries it’s normal.

Some idiot backed his truck over my hydrant.
@macromeh extra rep if you can post video!
I left my water bottle on the air train at the airport and I never drink as much water without it.

I’m not, I have a emotional support water bottle
@ragingredd Indeed that bottle is what is it is — Which is pretty cool.

@sdb @Star2236 Augmentin is a relative of penicillin, if they didn’t tell you.
