Why after all of these coffee polls do they still omit the I don’t drink coffee/“I’d rather barf than drink coffee” answer? I’m firmly in the “I’d rather barf than drink coffee” camp my self. Canned coffee seems like additional torture to coffee drinkers.
@kjady YES!!! Coffee is beyond gross, the smell is disgusting, and putting it in anything I like, for example, ice cream, ruins it. And it isn’t always clearly labeled that coffee flavoring has been added to otherwise decent food.
The best canned coffee??? Have you been to Japan? They have all of the best beverages. I’m a fan of the UCC and Georgia (coca-cola) brands.
In fact, I used to buy them from the commissary by the case load when we lived there in the 90s.
@OnionSoup@shahnm There’s an opportunity there: With the right marketing approach and some investor money, I can see the Malignant Canned Coffee Brand going viral on social media.
Does Mr T still do commercials? “I pity the fool who drinks this stuff.”
Larry David: “Give your family peace of mind. Get life insurance. Get this stuff.”
I’m on the edge of coffee snob, but per the write up, canned coffee is like a fast food burger: you’re getting it for a very specific purpose. There are no other options because it’s really early in the morning/late at night, you just finished a 25-mile hike and need calories, the self-loathing is particularly acute, etc.
In those situations, my go-to is Starbucks Double Shot Energy in Vanilla. It accepts the limitations of the can and focuses on being a coffee-laced vanilla milk beverage. At 210 calories and 25g total sugar in 15fl oz, it’s on the low end of the Starbucks line (13.7fl oz coffee Frappuccino is 290cal/46g).
A lot of the other “nicer” options make the (I believe) mistake of trying to produce a real coffee beverage that is mass produced and still going to taste good after months of storage/transit in wildly varying temperatures.
See, like, I don’t hate coffee with the fire of a thousand suns like some of y’all, but I definitely don’t drink it every day, and I’m not really the person to ask about brands of cold coffee.
Not technically canned, but I ended up really liking the bottled Super Coffee things they had on here a while back. I got the vanilla latte flavor. Not really like actual coffee in any real way. Nonetheless, it has the perfect balance of sweet and bitter taste. Not overpowring in any way, and the quality is suprisingly good despite the limitations of a pre-packaged coffee drink. I’m glad I ordered them despite how skeptical I was that I would enjoy it. I think a lot of folks wouldn’t enjoy the low calorie type coffee drinks. For me, they are so much better than the sugar pumped glass starbucks style drinks. I don’t really have an opinion on the current thing being sold today, other than the fact that I can tell based on the nutrition facts that I would even find that to be too sickly sweet. I’m tired of packaged products being stuffed with sugar. I’ve gotten to where I only want a very small amount of sweetener, so these bottles I have now are a nice change of pace. Extremely convenient when I need that low effort coffee kick. Unfortunately, it seems like they’ve sold out by now. Going to have to make these last because no matter how much I enjoy them, there’s no way I would pay the normal price for them. I would rather get up and make something myself if I had to. I did order some of the Delgada pumpkin spice powdered coffeee “sachets” so I will have to report back at some point as to whether or not they will be able to fit in as my convenient coffee replacement. Reviews do not seem particularly hopeful, but the same was said of the Super Coffee, so we shall see…
Folgers. That comes in cans, right?
@Zeusandhera well technically not for some time now. They be all plastic.
The Rise Cold Brew they’ve sold in the past were very tasty.
@paulnp I came here to say that. I also found that nitro thing to be interesting.

@kjady It helps keep you more engaged than just clicking an option and voting.
@yakkoTDI Yeah, but I’m lazy… I wanna just click a thing and absorb content like a sponge.
@kjady YES!!! Coffee is beyond gross, the smell is disgusting, and putting it in anything I like, for example, ice cream, ruins it. And it isn’t always clearly labeled that coffee flavoring has been added to otherwise decent food.
@Kidsandliz @kjady Poor, innocent brownies
@Kidsandliz @werehatrack I don’t trust chocolate baked goods that aren’t baked by myself or my Mom who also has an aversion to coffee.
@kjady Oh come on, it already tastes bad; what’s the harm in adding some heavy metal flavors to it?
Verve, Stumptown, blue bottle, etc
@Cerridwyn came here to second Stumptown. So freaking good.
@whiskeyish
The nitro ftw
Have a little fun with it. Get some ice a can of Stumptown Nitro and a little bit of licor 43 and put it in a blender it’s the bomb
@Cerridwyn @whiskeyish Remove beverage from can before placing beverage in blender, for best results.
@Cerridwyn @werehatrack But it’s so much crunchier WITH can…
“Best canned coffee” is like “Favorite venereal disease”…
@shahnm that’s easy… a variant of HPV that doesn’t cause any harm or risk, or pose a risk of cancer and can go unnoticed your entire life.
Those variants of HPV are pretty darn benign.
Canned Coffee on the other hand is all just nasty stuff I want to stay far away from.
@OnionSoup That’s not much of a self-respecting VD then. More of a colonization…
@OnionSoup @shahnm
“VD Light”
@macromeh @OnionSoup @shahnm The marketing people would have it as “VD Lite”.
[You know, if you can’t spell, you either go into sports journalism, marketing, or become a rapper.]
@macromeh @OnionSoup @phendrick Rite!
@macromeh @OnionSoup @phendrick @shahnm Those sound like the same job.
Coca-Cola BlāK
I’m a Suntory Boss man, myself.
Trick question — all coffee is gross.
best canned/ coffee drinks is an oxymoron.
Seriously coffee acid in an aluminium can for multiple months, now that’s just nasty!
@growyoungagain aluminum drinking cans have been plastic coated for a long, long time now.
@PHRoG that’s true, but I’m drinking a LA Croix right now( a flavor that’s gross) and I still can still taste metal.
@growyoungagain @PHRoG, so you can add they xenoestrogen that leaks from the plastic to the equation.
@kittykat9180 that and PFAS being in everything is not a healthy combination.
@growyoungagain @kittykat9180 I thought polyfluoroalkyl was being replaced with xenoestrogen?
The ones they make in Japan.
https://www.thrillist.com/eat/nation/japanese-canned-coffee
@Kyeh agreed. UCC and Boss are both good. There are some Vietnamese blends that are pretty good too
@Kyeh 100%
Nobody…
La Colombe is the correct answer. Like Rise it’s canned with nitro but I’d say edges them in the all important deliciousness category.
@highonpez I really liked the Rise I got here quite a while back. I’ll have to try and find this one and try it.
Ones from Japan.

Second on the La Colombe
“Canned” and “Coffee” do not belong in the same sentence.
@OnionSoup Kinda like “benign” and “venereal disease”…
@OnionSoup @shahnm Actually, if my physician were to tell me I had a VD, I’d like to hear “benign” in that sentence.
@phendrick @shahnm yes, but there’s no such thing as a benign canned coffee.
@OnionSoup @shahnm There’s an opportunity there: With the right marketing approach and some investor money, I can see the Malignant Canned Coffee Brand going viral on social media.
Does Mr T still do commercials? “I pity the fool who drinks this stuff.”
Larry David: “Give your family peace of mind. Get life insurance. Get this stuff.”
[Sorry. Something put me in a dark mood.]
@OnionSoup @phendrick Let’s see… We’ve got Syphilis Roast, Gonorrhea Ground, and for those evening cravings, DeCrab…
@OnionSoup @shahnm And for limited Christmas sales, the Yule Clap for This Latte (sustainably sourced) – “Get it while its fresh”.

Stumptown, Blue Bottle, Suntory, UCC, & Modern Times.

I don’t drink canned coffee
Deathwish!

I haven’t found a canned coffee I really enjoy yet.
