My high school girlfriend's mother was from Guatemala and pronounced my name "Eh-Steve". When I became a DJ on KUSF in 1988 I used "S Steve" as my on-air name. When anyone asked what the S stood for, I told them it was he same as in Harry S Truman. When I started needing a username on the Internet (and on the Whole Earth 'Lectronic Link before that) I just used SSteve. Except on Twitter where someone else got it first and to this day has still never made a tweet. So I decided to never use Twitter. That is to say, I was SSteve over at Woot.
When I visited mediocre about a year ago they specifically said to claim your handle before someone else does. I originally had TheAlmighty1 on aim, and seem to have that handle contested often. It seemed appropriate to claim it before another goofball took it.
