My wife and I have very common names. I had classmate in high school with the same name but last name was off by 1 letter. It led to all sorts of issues. He got awards for me, I was called to detention for him. I big mess. We figures to give her an unusual name and a common middle name she can go by if later in life she hates it. Our second child we went with Gavin, more common but not super common.
@StrangerDanger Hey! My stepson went through the same thing; one letter off last name. He might have been your nemesis! He was a rotten student but got all kinds of awards and stuff. Even had a couple college offers!
Zooey's a cool name but Ziva is even better.. We once decided to name our daughter Amber Michelle.. a beautiful name, then my wife decided to only have sons.. Waaa!! (well, gotta blame someone.. she blames me, I blame her.. nothing personal).
The problem is: It's impossible to give your child a unique actress name if there's already an actress with that name. Did none of you ever see the movie Clueless?
I say, Don't worry about the name as long as the initials make a good nickname. LOL. I have an M-N-MS, a TAZ, twins is DAFfy, and my granddaughter is EGGS. We just use her 3rd name GADGET.
Is there an actress named "Iwillnever Havekids"?
Porketta
@hallmike She's such a ham.
LOLOLOL Demi Bush... the Google Image results are interesting.
Rhoda... But with a last name like Johnson, Rhoda probably isn't a good choice
@capguncowboy No, her name should be Anita Johnson.
Before we had celebrities naming their kids after directions, we had Frank Zappa naming his kids Dweezil (who's really good) & Moon Unit.
@dashcloud And Ahmet, the third and often forgotten Zappa. I like it because it rhymes with vomit.
And I guess there's a Diva Muffin Zappa as well. I had no idea.
Oprah; get with the program.
Prunella Scales.
I named my daughter Bliss, from Isaac Asimov's "Foundation's Edge." She's always liked it, even at 23...
@droopus Oooo... I wish I had thought of that! ++
Rebel.
My husband and I just like ning our kids after British royalty. We have Elizabeth and Victoria, and he wanted Charles for a boy!
Stella is as unique as I'd go. Son's name is Holden and everyone thinks it's so out there, but I thought it was just a good, strong, older name.
In general, I consider unique, different names to be bad, possibly setting the kid up for failure.
I named my daughter Inara, based on a character name from a show. Ever since I heard the name I loved it.

@StrangerDanger Lovely name!

Zooey is probably the worst because it will ALWAYS be misspelled.
Raylan... oh wait... Already done...
Hurricane
@katylava And her sister, Tornado.

Jennifer, Mary, or Heather. I think they've become so common that they are once again uncommon.

@unkabob Well, since you are the guy it is your fault. Sperm is what decides the gender. Your wife is correct.
Zazu
Genevieve, Evangeline, Scarlett, Raquel, Salma, Ginger, Dahlia
Not after an actress, but after a book's title character. I named my oldest son Taliesin.
@smyle Maybe you want him to be an architect?

@ciabelle uniquerab
Axel for a boy, Xeela for a girl

Either Evangeline or Jorja.
Adorabelle
DICK
I have a friend with a daughter named Christmas.
Evangeline or Scarlett - very beautiful names
