Lights & decor go up December 12- you know: 12 Days of Christmas. They come down on January 6- again, 12 Days of Christmas. Chanukah stuff goes up on Night 1 and comes down after Night 8. The Festivus Pole stays up all month.
We used to do that when the kids were little. Now that they’re over 40, not so much. Besides we have ended up traveling over the holidays a lot of years so it’s not really like we’re going to be around to see them much.
@jitc
That’s really it. Some years I don’t put decorations at all bc I don’t want to deal with it. When I do put them up my boyfriend takes half of them down bc their too much for him.
The weekend after Thanksgiving; all the autumn decor comes down and gets packed up, then all the Christmas items are brought out of storage to put up.
This year with a shorter time between Thanksgiving and Christmas we need to get all the outside lights and stuff up by the end of the weekend; we’ll give ourselves through the next weekend to get the tree and inside decorations; after that its done, whether or not its done.
You already asked this.
@yakkoTDI, they must’ve really loved the responses.
@yakkoTDI No, I asked, I have neighbors who started before Halloween
@lonocat Darn it! I misrememberated who asked.
@yakkoTDI
I have cats, and can relate.
@lonocat @yakkoTDI
Strangely enough, back when I had pets, the cats never once took it down,
The dogs on the other hand , . .
I don’t celebrate holidays, I find it makes life easier and less stressful.
I put mine up when I get one of these:
@IndifferentDude Thank You, I always needed one of them!
After Remembrance Day is proper.
When my wife tells me.
@rustyh3 best answer! If she is not Happy, No one is Happy!

@MrNews
But what about the Yule log??
@Cerridwyn That comes out shortly after Thanksgiving dinner…
@Cerridwyn @MrNews The burning corpse of Darth Vader?

Whenever I get around to it. The tree was put together yesterday but decorations won’t happen until after Thanksgiving.
Lights on my house are Jellyfish lights so always up. Right now I have Thanksgiving colors on. On December 1st, they switch to Christmas colors
Depends on my anxiety/depression level.
