I used to work in designing and testing a lot of lithium batteries and chargers. Not everything is made equal. Even within a brand, some models can be better or lesser than their peers.
However, as a general rule from my personal and professional experience, I have been impressed with a lot of the products that I’ve used from Anker (various devices, especially batteries and cables), Aukey (charging adapters especially), Choetech (adapters and wireless chargers), Nulaxy (wireless chargers), and Ugreen (especially adapters and cables)…
Sometimes the marketing is total nonsense. Sometimes they actually make changes that count as noticeable improvements for normal usage in a cable head or an adapter’s circuitry. I would rather pay a little more than the cheapest price online, but still less than OEM, for better kit if it will help me protect my multi-hundred dollar equipment.
I don’t like the adjective “cheap,” but I certainly don’t automatically go with the OEM stuff, unless it’s a really special cable they’ve actually taken the time to produce. Otherwise, well known, reliable names like Anker are my thing.
@mike808@zinimusprime I mean insofar as I don’t find them to be that much more “inexpensive,” “low price,” or “garbage.” Value is “appropriate.” But Anker and Belkin don’t usually make crappy products for bargain basement prices.
I usually don’t buy accessories for my phone. I did buy the wireless chargers Meh had January 17th 2019. One died, the other two still work. I have an old Anker power bank. Some Jabra wireless earbuds.
usb cables to charge, plug to usb adapters, they’re commodity items, pretty much all the same. I just get the right ends, in the length i need, in a color i like. (and i’m probably not EVER going to spend over $10 on a frikkin usb cable. (one of the reasons i don’t buy apple devices)
headphones/earbuds/etc. I’ve used all sorts of cheap brands, but the best sound for my $$ has come from
any of my Google earbuds.
be it the Pixel USB-C earbuds, the OG pixel buds, or the pixel buds 2 (which I’m on my second set of, only because i accidentally ran the first ones through the washer, never to power up again… )
Cases, Spigen.
tough enough, reasonably priced, haven’t lead me astray yet.
granted I’m someone who has NEVER broken a screen. EVER…case, or no case…
I like Anker and Rosewill so far…
apple case and earpods are my favorites after trying many others of both
Check the customer reviews of the products, which usually leaves products for sale by Meh out of the running.
It often depends, but Anker has been a sure bet.

@jitc Try out “inexpensive”, “low-price”, or “high-value”.
@jitc @mike808 “garbage” works too!

Belkin and even Amazon basic seem to work well. Not the least expensive, but work.

They seem to show up in bags of crap so I just wait.
Go with someone that is affordable, but has a reputation to maintain. Cheap of the cheap is usually a gamble.
