@simplersimon crappy TV makes me more stressed…now I’ve wasted time I could have spent doing the important thing I am stressed about watching a TV show (or movie) that should never have been made.
@rattata it is one of those where almost every one involved clearly thought it would be amazing, but slowly realized they were in a train wreck trying (and failing) to capture the fan base of the recently canceled Dark Angel. The exception being Mia Sara as the main villain (with one of the worst haircuts ever), who realized from the start, and just chews the scenery in the best way. It’s a hilarious experience that was never intended to be a comedy, but you can’t watch it if you want to take it seriously. I might have missed the fun, being a fan of the comics who’d be happy to see a good adaptation, but I had been tipped off to it after mentioning I watched awful TV, so I was prepared for the debacle.
Have you seen the films Birdemic: Shock and Terror
and Birdemic 2:. The Resurrection
I’m kinda in awe of those.
Apparently the director, in public, pretends to go along with the opinion that they’re unintentionally awful-funny, but secretly in his heart thinks they are great in the way that The Godfather is great.
I seem to reach some peak stress level and then settle into exhaustion and resignation. Combine that with a lot of sleep and I guess that’s … good? enough?
Beating the crap out of the person causing the stress. (The thread title says “preferred” and not “most used”.) I don’t actually do that, as the consequences would just cause more stress, but I can beat up a punching bag while thinking “kind thoughts” about them.

You left out bitching into the internet.
@cranky1950
/8ball Is “Cranky Bitching” @cranky1950’s preferred subspecialty within the fine art of bitching?
Yes definitely
/8ball Or is “Cranky Bitching” a mere example of a redundancy?
My reply is no
Run all the miles. It’s my only solace. Training for marathons is my me time. Some earbuds with good tunes, good shoes, and the road ahead.

Eating everything in sight, preferably including chocolate chip cookies
Shooting guns and smoking cigars. Sometimes at the same time.
@krdshrk .45 caliber catharsis
the downside is ammo has gotten so expensive that sometimes it is as stressful as it is stress relieving to shoot.
@krdshrk while not my method, it is one I was surprised not to see on the default list.
@simplersimon I was expecting cigars and brandy…
@duodec that’s why I prefer 9mm. Cheaper, good ammo is just as effective, and higher capacity mags.
@duodec more like cigars and scotch.
@krdshrk
@krdshrk You go, Schwarzenegger.
@krdshrk Be sure you don’t confuse which action you do with which item.
@DrWorm Oops.
Binge-watching some crappy TV. That’s how I recently discovered Birds of Prey, the television series about Batman’s daughter. So very awful.
I’ll also turn to video games when I really need to burn off some rage.

@simplersimon LOOOVED that show when I was 13. Is it that bad? I’m afraid to rewatch it.

Sleep
Ice Cream
Bike rides! And, if that fails (or I’m having an extra lazy day), chocolate or wine or video games (all three together could work, too).
Prayer.
The dog.
Booze.
Rum.
Bourbon.
Brandy.
Tequila.
Vodka.
Gin.
etc…

Chucking a dozen or so stress balls at the source of my momentary tension.
